Porn Addiction: How Dangerous Can This Be?

It seems that everywhere you go online, there’s always that one small chance of an evil porn pop-up screaming “Boo!” into your face. Most people can just shrug these off as common annoyances or even get pop-up blockers to prevent their eyes from being traumatized by that which we do not wish to see. However, many men and women have an immense interest in pornography: both video and photograph. Like with everything out there, it can be dangerous for many reasons. But addiction can cost you a lot more than you think.

Porn Addiction is something that can cost you a LOT of money in the long run. As most people know, there are numerous adult sites on the internet that cater to almost every fetish. Some offer photographs and some even offer live, streaming cams with the availability to talk one-on-one with these girls as they perform. With technology advancing so swiftly in cameras and pixels available, there’s no wonder people are drawn to watching these people on camera. They appear life-like now more than ever. However, it is unfortunate that the majority of these sites may have ‘free’ options, but to get all the goodies you have to pay a monthly fee. This can be anywhere from 35 dollars a month and up. Sure, that’s only 420 dollars a year, but let’s take into consideration also camgirls tend to have wish lists and tip options. This is where the real money can end up going.

Everyone should know what a wish list is by now. You place several items on a list from a website you find them on such as Amazon and providing links, men and women who view your camera can purchase something off of it for you. Sure, some girls only request small $10 items, but there are those who also have insanely priced items on there. If your addiction carries you far enough to get too close to these girls, you can (and I have witnessed this) lose thousands of dollars to these girls. Not only are there wish lists, as I mentioned, there are the tips. The tips work in various ways depending on the site. At the end of a month, as an example, a camgirl can receive a check for hundreds of dollars for just baring it all for these strangers online. Sure, it seems safe, but there are girls out there who know how to weave a tale and can drain men to the point of penniless-ness – then abandoning them to move onto the next male.

There are also adult book and video stores which cater to almost every fetish out there, too. From zombie pornography to even hentai animation, these rentals do add up and especially if you end up returning these materials late. Of course, there’s a wide variety available and to an addict this can keep them pretty occupied. Not only are there videos but books and magazines can be purchased depicting men and women in very sexual poses. While this material in and of itself isn’t bad in the least, it can be very hazardous to those who can’t stop looking. Before long you may find yourself comparing real life partners to these air-touched people and ultimately be left with only fantasies to fulfil you.

Money isn’t the only thing one can lose with a porn addiction. You can lose loved ones on both sides of the fence. Such as, a man becomes so addicted to internet porn he discovers his girlfriend is no longer attractive in comparison. The only way he can become aroused around her is to look at these silent beauties online beforehand. Eventually she will catch onto this addiction and it may cause her to leave an ultimatum. What ultimatum, you ask? It could be, “give up porn or I’m leaving” for example. This is where the addiction can break it for you. If you’re TRULY addicted, you won’t care if she leaves because you always have your pornographic material to keep you over. You can find yourself alone, where before you had a girlfriend and maybe even children around. Then you may realize that your interest isn’t that healthy.

Let’s review the other side. A friend of mine discovered her husband had a pornographic addiction. In fact, he couldn’t become turned on by a woman unless he perused some sort of material – generally an adult magazine found in most stores that sell this kind of material. As every person should know, sex is an important part to a healthy marriage. The intimacy and feelings are those felt between two who are in love. However, she realized he was more infatuated with self love and unattainable women than his very beautiful wife that stood by his side. She watched him deteriorate into a recluse which caused her to become depressed and detached. She felt unappreciated and ugly. Not only this, but she felt that he didn’t love her. This caused a horrible strain on their marriage until she at last took his addiction from him and barred it from the house. Now they’re trying to reverse his actions by revoking his right to this sort of material.

Addiction isn’t only dangerous for those who watch it. Let me draw a point to the cam scene briefly. Cam girls can be easily noticed in real life – especially if someone buys them a wishlist item. They can see WHERE it goes to (why most girls get items delivered to Post Office Boxes) and ultimately cause problems. Some girls make it easily known where they’re from and this is dangerous. People can become infatuated with these so-called porn stars and try to stalk them out. This can land you in serious trouble if you’re the stalker or the one being stalked. Remember above all else these people are private persons, too. If they want to meet you – meet in safe conditions.

Nobody should be hurt because of an addiction. Not just pornographic. While there will be no end to pornography any time in the near future and there being no reason TO end it, there comes a time when someone has to realize they may become obsessed. If you personally feel you’re addicted or know someone who is, you need to have an intervention. Not only for them but for those around them. Pornography is all right if you’re an adult – just in moderation. Never make it your sole obsession.
