First Person: Marlboro Ranch

Would you believe that about an hour outside of Bozeman, Montana, is a ranch located in the middle of nowhere that offers once-in-a-lifetime opportunities? I couldn’t personally have thought that such a wonder was hidden away in the middle of nowhere, but there is. Thanks to Marlboro Cigarettes and Philip Morris, the Marlboro Ranch (also known as the Crazy Mountain Ranch) was created for adults to have fun.

Several months ago, my husband – a smoker (I’m a non-smoker) – received a notice in the mail that he had won a trip to an a never heard of before ranch by Marlboro. Of course, at first, we thought it was a complete scam. We waited to literally the last minute to finally call them and find out more. As it turns out, those registered with www.marlboro.com and use the coupons that they receive from them, are in return entered into a drawing for a trip to a ranch. It turns out that this ranch has been around for about ten years and that there are several trips that head out there during the summer and winter months.

After following all instructions, we received plane tickets and luggage. Packed up and ready to go for a three days/four nights trip, we didn’t know what to expect. Upon arriving in Montana, we were greeted by a Marlboro Ranch crew dressed in red shirts, jeans, boots, and cowboy hats. After we were signed in and food was passed out, we were taken to a ranch located in the middle of nowhere, about 6,000 feet up in the Crazy Mountain Range, where cell service, television, radios, and air conditioner is non-existent and non-stop fun exists.

The ranch itself looks like an old-western town, complete with comfortable rooms and a great staff. Between food, drink, and cigarettes – all free – what more could we expect?

Lots.

We had the opportunity to choose activities such as horseback riding, off-roading, zip line fun, and more. There were schedules to adhere to, but considering that all the fun was free, 75% of the lucky 100 there kept to the schedules. It was amazing that this little place was tucked away in the mountains as a camp for adults to just simply relax and have fun. The winners were from all over, including two more couples from Alabama, which is where we live at the moment.

Despite the high altitude and being around smokers, the weather was beautiful at night, no humidity in the day-time, I still had chances to just stroll among the foothills of the mountains by myself, my sinuses grateful for the constant relief. Between waking up to finding deer on the front porch of the building we were staying in, to gorgeous Nature, fun dances, and other exciting activities, I managed for the first time in a long time without technology.

Of course there are other surprising secrets that the ranch withholds. Us winners and guests of winners have yet to released all the great secrets. Although I don’t smoke, I still would recommend this getaway of a lifetime.
