2012-2013 Fantasy Basketball Sleepers – Top 10

Chandler Parsons – Hou – sf/pf – 19%

As a 2nd round draft pick last season, Parsons played nothing like a rookie, as he quickly emerged as a scrapy hussle player that every team in the NBA wants in their lineup. With an ability to tally stats across the board, Parsons is poised to become an integral player in fantasy basketball lineups during the 2012-2013 season. With the ability to play both forward positions, Parsons should easily see between 30-35 minutes of playing time as a starter in the Rockets lineup. Parsons offers excellent overall value and upside for fantasy basketball teams this season.

Jan Vesely – Was – pf – 9%

With 6-11 height and plenty of athletism, Vesely will have an opportunity to claim the starting power forward spot in the Wizards lineup for the 2012-2013 season. Entering his sophomore season in the NBA, Vesely has the potential to become a double-double points/rebounds contributor, while also tallying steals and blocks, to go along with an excellent field goal shooting percentage. For comparison purposes, think Kris Humphries type stats potential for Vesely this season.

Bismack Biyombo – Cha – pf/c – 53%

As a 20 year old rookie last season, Biyombo played extremely well as a starter in the Bobcats lineup, as he tallied 41 starts and averaged over 7 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 6 points per game. With a year of experience under his belt, and the starting center job his for the taking in the Bobcats lineup, Biyombo is poised to become a 10 rebound and 2 blocks per game big man in fantasy basketball lineups this season.

Tristan Thompson – Cle – pf/c – 21%

The #4 overall pick in last year’s NBA draft, Thompson showed plenty of ability and potential as a 20 year old rookie. In 25 starts at the center position in the Cavaliers lineup, Thompson posted a rock solid per game average of 10 points, 7.5 rebounds, 0.9 blocks, 0.6 steals, and a 47% field goal percentage. With the starting power forward job his for the taking to begin the 2012-2013 season, Thompson could easily take a huge step forward while potentially becoming a double-double points/rebounds contributor.

Derrick Williams – Min – sf/pf – 25%

As the #2 pick in last year’s NBA draft, Williams entered his rookie season with high expectations, but struggled to establish himself at the NBA level. Now with a year of experience under his belt, Williams will be looking to capilize on his playing time, while posibily becoming a must-own in fantasy basketball lineups this season.

Tiago Splitter – SA – c – 9%

After entering the 2010-2011 season with high expectations, Splitter’s transition to the NBA has been slower than expected. Luckily though, he did take a giant leap forward last season in his sophomore campaign in the NBA, and now entering his 3rd season, Splitter is poised to take on a much bigger role in the Spurs lineup. With an ability to tally points, rebounds and blocks, Splitter’s best contributing stats factor may just be his field goal shooting percentage, where he posted an amazing 61% over 343 attempts last season.

Jimmer Fredette – Sac – pg – 5%

Owned in over half of fantasy basketball leagues to begin last season, Fredette was a complete bust as rookie in the NBA last year. However as expected, he did manage to put up 1.3 made 3-pointers in just 18 mintues played per game. With that in mind, if Fredette can rack up around 25 minutes played per game as a sophomore during the 2012-2013 season, he could definitely tally an average of 2 made 3-pointers per game this season.

Norris Cole – Mia – pg – 3%

After averaging nearly 20 minutes played per game as a rookie last season, Cole will jockey with Mario Chalmers to be the starting point guard in Miami for the 2012-2013 season. With the potential to tally 10-12 points per game, to go along with some assists and steals ability, Cole is a solid late round gamble for fantasy basketball teams looking for PG depth.

Landry Fields – Tor – sg/sf – 17%

With the starting shooting guard position his for the taking in Toronto for the 2012-2013 season, Fields could once again become a vital cog in fantasy basketball lineups this season. With the ability to tally stats across the board, Fields is a Shane Battier type who can contributor a little in each scoring category, while at the same time not being great at any one thing. Overall, fantasy basketball teams can get more overall value than high upside from Fields in fantasy basketball lineups.

Jeff Green – Bos – sf/pf – 14%

After missing the entire 2011-2012 season because of an aortic aneurysm, Green should be back to full health to begin the 2012-2013 season. With a proven track record of success as a starter in the NBA, Green will be looking to re-establish his career with the Celetics. If fully healthy, Green could easily log 30 minutes per game, while tallying solid points, rebounds and 3-point field goals.
