I was born in 1977, and fondly remember alot of chidlren’s shows from the 1980s. One of my favorite cartoons was Rainbow Brite. Recently I looked back into Rainbow Brite and found that Bettina Bush was the voice of Rainbow Brite. I was really young back then, so of course I hadn’t a clue who did the voice-over until recently. I did a bit of research concerning the voice-characters for Rainbow Brite. That’s when I came across the cast of Rainbow Bite and this is what I found.

Scott Menville was the voice of Brian. Mr. Menville currently plays the voice of Robin on the new Teen Titans cartoon and he plays bass in the band Boy Hits Car! Davis Mendenhall was the voice of Krys, He graduated from USC in 1998, and graduated law school in 2001. Then there was the Rainbow Brite character Stormy, who was voiced by Marissa Mendenhall. Her whereabouts are not currently known. Then there was Peter Cullen, who was the voice for Murky, Castle Monster, and Narrator. His whereabouts are also currently unknown .

More About Bettina Bush
Bettina Bush’s professional career started when she was just five years old. That’s when she began acting and modeling. Eventually, her career including voice-overs on shows like All Grown Up!, Rugrats, My Little Pony, Ben 10, and of course the voice of Rainbow on Rainbow Brite. You might have also seen her in the McDonald’s “I’m Lovin’ It” commercial jingles. Bettina has found work as a singer, songwriter, and voice actress.
Bettina is now in charge of her own record company and financed, co-wrote and performed her first independent release titled “Lucky Girl“. Her influences are noted as being Dolly Parton and Elton John.
In 2006, she was named American Idol Underground winner in the Pop Category. This exposure led to her shooting a music video. She also co-wrote three tracks with Sony producer/songwriter Automatic, who has worked with Pink and India Arie. They co-wrote “Emerald City“, “Let Me Inside“, and “I Can’t Deny You“.
Her childhood was spent in recording studios singing Disney’s children’s records, jingles, and voicing cartoon characters. She brought to life characters like Rainbow Brite, Alisa Carmicheal on Rugrats, and Megan from My Little Pony. She also did voice-overs for popular video games like Madagascar, Desperate Housewives, and Final Fantasy. Her single “She Is” was inspired by her parent’s marriage. Her finished her 2008 tour performing at the United States Air Force Academy, where she opened for Gretchen Wilson, at the Atlantic City House of Blues. She performed with American Idol’s David Archuleta in Hollywood. She also performed with Smashmouth at the event.
In 2008, Bettina, had many successes, including her tour. June 22, 2008, she was featured in the Country Music Issue with Kenny Chesnney, for People Magazine. She attended the Teen Choice Awards. In October, she sang the national anthem for 45,000 fans for the Air Force/Navy game at Falcom Stadium. In September she was featured in an article with Mark-Paul Gosselar and Miley Cyrus. She also performed in support of The March of Dimes in Houston, October 17, 2008. She can also be heard on FOX Saturday mornings as the voice of Seattle Montoya, on Stargate Infinity.
She also had success on the Billboard Chart, as she reached #4 for her song “She Is. This was for “Hot Singles Sales”. Last week “Cradle To The Grave” debuted at #37 and the single has since climbed to #35. This song can be downloaded via ITunes, where Bettina is donating one dime for every download of the new single, to benefit the March of Dimes Campaign. This Campaign is helping premature babies, and they state that more than half a million babies are born premature every year. Bettina Bush is currently the host and narrator for the Style Network’s new series the Big Party Plan-Off! Currently Bettina is in the studio working on her new album “Emerald City” with producer Automatic, who just finished working with the Pussycat Dolls and Pink. She also recorded a collaboration with Darius Rucker and Mark Bryan of Hootie and the Blowfish.

It is a shame that you cannot find Rainbow Brite on TV anymore. I would love for my daughter to be able to watch this TV program. I also looked into buying the movies (VHS) at places like Ebay, the prices are much overpriced! VHS aren’t the best formats anymore, so it is a shame to have to pay up to $50 for a VHS.
I am hoping that eventually Rainbow Brite will appear again on TV. It was such an original show! Bring back Rainbow Brite!
