4th of July Movies for Kids

The Fourth of July is a great opportunity for parents to teach their children about how great it is to be American. One way to teach your children about Independence Day is by letting them watch 4th of July movies for kids. I have five great Fourth of July movies for kids that will teach them to be patriotic.

4th of July Movies for Kids #1: This is America, Charlie Brown

Charlie Brown is a timeless cartoon icon. In 1988 Peanuts creator Schulz created a miniseries focusing on American historical events. This 8 part miniseries is a great Independence Day movie for both kids and adults. What makes this one of the best 4th of July Movies for kids is that it is education and entertaining.

4th of July Movies for Kids #2: School House Rocks! Election Collection

I used to watch ABC cartoons every Saturday morning growing up. I got to hear various School House Rocks! jingles. One edition of the SHR collection that is a great Independence Day movie is School House Rocks! Election Collection. Of course, this was created for an election. However, this Independence Day movie will teach your children certain aspects of being American.

4th of July Movies for Kids #3: Liberty’s Kids: Complete Series

If you are looking for a great historical and educational Independence Day movie, look no further than my third selection. This is the complete series of shows aired on PBS. Famous people such as Whoopi Goldberg and Dustin Hoffman provide the voices for some of the featured characters.

4th of July Movies for Kids #4: Johnny Tremain

Although this Independence Day movie was made back in 1957, it is still an education and informative Fourth of July movie for your children to watch. This 4th of July movie is the story of a silversmith who injures himself on a quest for human rights. He is accused of a crime he did not commit, and historical icons Paul Revere and Josiah Quincy aid him.

4th of July Movies for Kids #5: The Crossing

My last Independence Day movie recommendation for kids is The Crossing. In this 4th of July movie, Jeff Daniels stars as General George Washington and how he took a surprising offensive that turned the tide of the Revolutionary War.
