Summer can be sweet for your feet. Comfortable, airy shoes show off your pedicure and complete your fashion statement. Shoes are as important an accessory as any other, and can make or break an outfit. Keep your toes pretty in pink, because sandals are the main line.
According to Elle Magazine, thin strapped sandals are back. They can be found in all colors, from a Kelly green that pops to brilliant red. The difference this year is the heel. Wedge, chunky or pencil thin, heeled sandals are the trend. The good news is that the pumped up heel gives most any leg a sexy look. If you are tall, don’t be afraid to wear them. They will dramatize your long, sexy legs even more.
Mary Janes are hanging around, too, but with a dramatic change. They have been jacked up on a two inch heel. The look is fabulous. Gabriella Rocha presents them with a cone shaped heel. Others are available with triangular chunky heels. No matter how you like your heel, the new twist on the Mary Jane is a fashion forward for the season.
Flats are in, but innovated. They have a thin platform heel on the back, a smaller toe, and lots of smooth curves. You will be able to find them open backed, or with a thin strap around the heel. Texture and color can be determined by your taste, as shoes are made from leather, terry cloth, and canvas. There is a color and texture to fit every taste.
If you are more adventurous, put on a pair of smooth silver sandals, or a pair with bold, gold accents. Dramatic heeled sandals are perfect for dates or other formal outings. Black patent leather is even available with a thin stripe and high heel.
If your are bold, take heart. The platform isn’t going anywhere. If you can manage a 4 1/2″ heel, you can find a pair of platform sandals to fit your style. The vintage look and high heel is a very bold, and sexy look.
Those two words, “bold” and “sexy”, are the defining words for this summer’s styles.
The 2007 collection for men has some fashion changes. Thankfully, none of them involve platforms or heels.
Men’s summer shoes are sporting a woven look. Sandals with woven straps are hot. Big chunky straps are gone. Burn last year’s pair. They probably need it anyway. Men’s sandals feature much smaller straps with a weave on top. Guys, the buckles are gone, too. Get rid of them. The new look is light and the details add a sense of fashion. Woven sandals look great with shorts and sports shirts and polos. They are casual enough to wear around the house, beach, or pool.
Loafers also have a new look this season. The woven accent will be a part of them. Some will have a fully woven top. The “moc toe” is another accent to look for on loafers. The “moc toe” is a stitch, named after the stitching on real moccasins. Look for this detail on all styles of summer shoes.
If you bought athletic shoes last year you may be in luck Retro striping is in again. If you are buying new athletic shoes the difference will be a little bit thinner stripe. The dark colors and striping look like old-style American football shoes. About.com reports that this is the style shoe that will be seen in the World Cup this summer. I love the look of these. They are sporty and versatile. Men are no longer stymied by the bland, white sneaker. They too, insist on dressing in style.
Kenneth Cole’s men’s shoe, for dressier occasions boasts a boxy look. Look for the “moc toe” on these styles as well. Kenneth Cole has included this stitch in his collection.
The color selection for men is better than ever. A variety of brown and tan hues make for a more interesting wardrobe. Loafers and boatshoes both come in a variety of colors and accents.
