It may already be summer, but the new school year will soon begin. Most teachers in their classrooms, organizing materials, wonder what to do with those empty bulletin boards. If you’re like me, my bulletin boards are the last thing I remember when getting ready for “back to school” time. So don’t wait until the last minute to crash, plan ahead! Here are 10 creative “back to school” bulletin board ideas:
1. “What I Love About…” – This bulletin board idea doesn’t need much time to set up. Explain the words “What I like about…” and fill in the topic you teach (“What I like about Science…”). On the first day of school, each student writes on a piece of paper the thing they like most about your subject; then those boards are stapled.
2. Photo Cards– Each student receives an identification card, then draws a full body photo of themselves with all details. Each student’s picture is attached to the whiteboard with the student’s title taken back to school. For fun, the school staff have a different picture too, so students have people search.
3. Month-by-month Outline – If your entire curriculum is provided for school, give a preview of what will be taught each months Review each month on the board, then explain the pictures or key words that will be taught.
4. Fall Leaves – Make a large piece of paper on your white board, and cut out large fall leaves. As your students enter your school, write their name and a little bit about themselves on each sheet (like what you want to learn in school this year).
5. Reach the finish line – If you have a goal or a class challenge, use one bulletin board as a way to keep track of your steps. For example, a geography paper in a Social Studies class can be marked to show what parts the students have learned about the subject. Or perhaps a community service project for your school can be posted on the bulletin board with an explanation and run-through of your project.
6. Famous Birthdays and World Events – Have a large calendar on the bulletin board that changes every month. Update each other’s months with the most important times throughout history, as well as the birthdays of famous and historical figures. figures
7. “Think” – For a bulletin board idea that gets students into “thinking mode” they present various optical tricks and brain teasers. Offer bonus points to students who turn in correct answers.
8. “To School” Bus– create your own big yellow school bus on white boards. Each window can be filled with pictures of your students, pictures, names or goals drawn for the school year.
9. Motivational Quotes – Find inspiration about education (such as “Education is a movement from darkness to light.” – Alan Bloom, according to QuoteGarden), and display them in your list.
10. “Back to School Checklist”– Use a large piece of paper and draw horizontal lines to see a large piece of paper. Title it “To School Type.” Under the title, write a list of things your students should know about next year’s classes; It may include class rules, necessary school supplies, or other important information. Create a large lead paper to add to the ornament.
