We are moving in a week and I am so excited, mostly for my son, who has shared a room with his sister this last year (hardly a 13 year old boys dream.) But, it has been a transitional year and I will be glad to give him a space of his own. Be sure to notice the simplified color schemes in every design which really gives the rooms a clean look. Though our son would never be able to maintain this look, not even a minute after the picture…I think there are some great ideas in the details.

The cool-dids-rooms.com link below offers 4 pictures but TEN really strong, easy to read ideas that are awesome things to consider. Have you ever heard of magnetic paint? I hadn’t, nor had I considered glow in the dark paint. This site goes into light detail on both and will have you considering extreme things as well as practical, like utilizing closet space uniquely. Check it out!

Pottery Barn Kids: So Plumb Line
Surely I am not the only mother who uses Pottery Barn as a guideline. Notice, I didn’t say that I buy Pottery Barn (though I have.) But mostly, with four children, I have come to grips with the fact that nothing lasts forever and everything will be ruined sooner or later. No, I am not a pessimist, but far too many an item have been ruined around my home for me to trade my hard earned cash on something in a kids room, if I can do it cheaper.
Additionally, I am not totally sold out on a solid scheme. I find my tastes and those of my children a little more eclectic. Still, I love the warm look of Pottery Barn and the way class meets practicality so tastefully. If you are looking for a place to start, for theme or ideas, you won’t want to miss the attention to detail and color offered on their site of showrooms. Plus, in the wild color schemes offered for teens and outrageous things kids are drawn to, it is very nice to have a plumb line. It is as though Pottery Barn is great at that…to remind us all what is classy, cozy and fine to prevent hideous decorating mistakes.

Extreme Home Makeover Boys Room Photo Gallery: So Inventive
I am not sure there is a place on the web that contains more ideas for boy’s rooms than this site. I am sure we have all seen the show on ABC (or reruns on CMT) and we have cried at the extremes gone to for deserving families. But that simply isn’t the whole of it. That show has great ideas! I have seen some of the best rooms ever on that program…for boys!
