No matter how many changes affected the outlook of women in dresses, they remain the standard symbol of feminine dressing. Dresses today exist in so many styles, with so many patterns, made of so many different sorts of materials but no matter short or long, the most important is always to feel our best feminine selves in a dress. For this feeling, it is vital to choose a dress which brings out the best of us and which fits the best.
In the past century, women’s dressing style had undergone entire reinvention several times. First, there came the feminist movement, thanks to which women started to wear trousers and then came the revolution of the miniskirt both of which meant a radical change in women’s fashion. Today, we can wear anything we want to, as there are hundreds of different styles to wear all of which count fashionable.
First, we must see which body type we have in order to choose the best fitting dress for us. There are so many different body types and ways of wearing a dress. Women in dresses can look elegant, flirty, effortless, gypsy-style, hippie or luxurious depending on the tailoring of the dress. Tailoring is the best if made to fit the best on the body. This can be the best achieved by a professional tailor. We all know that finding a good tailor is a hard job and therefore most of us go to fashion stores and instead we try on dozens of dresses until we find the best fitting style for our body types and for our personal flavour in the same time.
There are some key advices that every woman should follow. First, if you are short, do not go for the extra long dresses, unless you are thin and capable to wear extra high heels with your dress. The material counts a lot when it comes to a tight fitting dress. If you are more on the fleshy side, do not go for Lycra tight dresses because these will enhance those parts, which look the most disadvantageous when revealed. No matter how many stick thin women in dresses we wee in magazines or on the television, most of us definitely do not look like a supermodel that is in fact good as this is how we are all different.
If you are on the fleshy side, choose a material that hides for the good. This does not mean loose dresses necessarily. If you choose a good material just like cotton or tweed, you cannot really go wrong if the dress is tight fitting. If you do not want to reveal too much or want to go for an elegant dress for work, choose those styles, which are knee-length. However, beware to choose the appropriate shoes for your dress. Knee-length dresses require heels in most cases.
A good dress hides and makes you attractive at the same time. Do not go for a dress which reveals too much of your legs and from your décolleté at the same time, unless it is made to be worn with a shirt underneath. If you feel that you do not have enough experience in choosing the right dress for you, turn to a professional or simply look for a tailor who can really be of your help in what to wear and how.
Another golden rule goes for the women in dresses, which they like, but they do not look attractive on them. Sometime in our lives, each one of us makes this mistake once or twice, when we get to buy a dress, which we love regardless of how it looks like on us. In case a dress fits on you but in a bad way, do not give up on it straightaway but take it to a tailor and see what he or she can make out of the dress. Sometimes tailors can make real wonders with unfitting dresses.
