The last several years we have celebrated Christmas with my husband’s family on the weekend following the holiday. Safeway Select Firecrackers are packaged in an eight count box for $2.99. My local grocery store was running a sale on the Safeway Select frozen appetizers which enabled me to buy three boxes for eight dollars. Definitely a bargain. Safeway Select Firecrackers are a miniature wrap filled with spicy beef, cheddar cheese, salsa, jalapeno and various spices including onion and green chilies.
The Safeway Select Firecrackers were a snap to prepare. After preheating the oven to four hundred degrees, the Firecrackers are placed on a baking tray and placed on the center oven rack for approximately twelve to thirteen minutes. This frozen appetizer can also be cooked in a deep fryer, but should not be prepared in the microwave.
Each three piece serving of Safeway Select Firecrackers contains two hundred and ten calories. There is a total of eight Fat grams, thirty milligrams of Cholesterol, four hundred and thirty milligrams of Sodium, twenty three grams of Carbohydrate, one gram of Fiber and nine grams of Protein. There is also two percent of Vitamin A, four percent of Vitamin C, eight percent of Calcium and four percent of Iron in each serving.
Safeway Select Firecrackers are perfect for those who love a little spice, but balk at snacks that are too hot. The appetizers offer a delicious blend of beef and cheese that has zip and zest, but doesn’t leave you running for a drink of water. This frozen appetizer definitely satisfies the taste for spice, without offering too much heat. The spice can be cut down with a serving of sour cream, or the heat amped up with some hot salsa for dipping.
