After writing my review for the Speck SeeThru Hard Shell Case and Holster for iPod touch, I realized just how displeased with the product I was and decided to treat myself to a nicer case. My complaints with the Speck case were its cheap looks and the inconvenience of not being able to dock the iPod while it was in the case. I kept that in mind while shopping for a new case. The new case would have to look good and not get in the way of the functioning or design of my iPod touch.
The iPod touch is designed to be touched. Any case that attaches to the iPod and stays there is interfering with the original design and alters the user experience. I decided that my new case would not be the always-on type like the Speck. I trust myself to be careful enough not to damage the iPod while I’m using it. Based on my requirements in a new case, I decided on a leather pouch: the Sena Elega pouch for iPod touch.
The Sena Elega is made of high-quality napa leather with a velvet lining. It also features a sturdy, inconspicuous, ratchet belt clip. The Sena Elega pouch doesn’t look cheap and it is designed specifically for the iPod touch. It is form-fitting and protective and turned out to be a perfect case for my needs. Because my iPod is completely removed from the case, it gets to stay thin and beautiful while I’m using it without dust traps and added edges. When my iPod is at rest, I can easily slide it into the Sena Elega and just as easily take it out. My iPod touch is adequately protected in this case and I feel that taking it in and out is in no way damaging it.
With the Sena Elega case my iPod is protected and still good looking; this makes it a superior case to anything else I’ve used for my iPod touch. My first case was a Golla pouch that was so thin my iPod wasn’t protected at all. The Golla pouch also had a velcro closure that seemed like it could have been scratching the iPod on its way in and out. I also used iPod socks which at best can protect against dust and scratches but not much else. With the Speck Hard Shell Case I had to remove and and reinsert the iPod too often and I felt like it was getting more scratches each time I did. Compared to my previous purchases the Sena Elega case is a perfect combination of form and function.
The Sena Elega case I bought cost $29.99 on eBay. With an eBay dollars voucher and instant Microsoft cash back of $7.50, I only paid about $12 for it. I consider $30 expensive for a case but for that price you are getting quality materials and construction. I am pleased with my purchase of the Sena Elega case for my iPod touch and beleive It is worth every penny of it’s retail price. I recommend the Sena Elega case to anyone looking for a simple and elegant protective case for the iPod touch.
