Laughlin’s – Buffalo’s Best Bistro
Located at 333 Franklin Street in downtown Buffalo, N.Y., Laughlin’s has become my personal favorite bistro in downtown Buffalo. Not only is their menu diverse, creative and superb, but the décor of the hip, 3-story restaurant is charming and welcoming, and sets quite an urban, yet classic mood to any visit.
The first floor of the restaurant is dedicated to the main bar area and the kitchen, and more casual dining takes place upstairs, where there is also an outdoor patio and bar off of the second floor. The lighting is kept low, and numerous tables are tucked in every corner. Though the restaurant gets quite busy at the dinner hour (They do accept reservations and are very quick to seat you), the ambiance of the location makes you feel like you have your privacy while you dine.
Laughlin’s menu has something for everyone, and will be sure not to disappoint. Some of their best dishes feature the beef on weck sandwich, various pasta dishes, their seafood selections are exquisite, and a tasty addition to many of their dishes are their homemade French fries, which I absolutely love. My favorite choice there has been their catch of the day- Salmon prepared perfectly, with outstanding herbs and spices. The prices are more than reasonable and vary from $6 – $25. Lunch specials can keep your budget under $15, and is served until 4:00 everyday.
Laughlin’s will cater to banquets, and parties, and they are more than happy to fulfill take out orders. Parking is more than adequate, with various lots in the immediate area, as well as limited parking on the streets surrounding the restaurant. It’s the perfect place to eat before you head out on the town whether it be for a show, a sports event, or a concert, as you are already in the heart of downtown Buffalo. Laughlin’s tops any other bistros in the downtown Buffalo area, with outstanding service, and amazing food.
