It’s Friday night and you’re searching for something for the family to do. Something that isn’t that expensive that the whole family will enjoy. How about taking them to a movie? My kids love spending an afternoon at the movie theater, often catching a double or even triple feature. Fortunately for me, we have a lot of theaters here in Spartanburg, S.C. that cater to families and kids. The theater I usually choose for my family is the Carmike Wynnsong Cinema located at 1640 Reidville Rd. in Spartanburg. It’s right behind the Outback steakhouse. Making it easier than ever to have a relaxing dinner with the family and then catch an inexpensive movie or even two, right next door. The best thing about the Wynnsong is that their prices are very family friendly at only $1.50 for matinee and $2.50 after 6 p.m. and that’s for children as well as adults. Kids younger than 3 get in free. Although You may have to wait to see a just released movie because this theater is not known for showing first run movies. But they still manage to have a wonderful selection of movies to choose from. And at only $2.50 it’s definitely worth waiting a week or two to see that just released movie. The seating at Wynnsong is very comfortable. And they even have a snack bar stocked with all the best candy, hot popcorn and cold drinks. They also have a special combo where 2 people can see a movie, get a large popcorn and 2 large drinks for $10.50, which is a really great deal. Before your movie, enjoy their comfortable lobby with plenty of cushioned seating where the parents can relax while the kids play the video games located throughout the lobby. Another wonderful theater in Spartanburg is the Regal Westgate located at 205 West Blackstock Rd. in Spartanburg. Prices at this theater are a little more expensive at $8.25 for adults, $6.75 for students and $5.75 for kids and seniors. The Regal plays many first run movies and sometimes offers deals on its abundantly stocked snack bar items, including candy, popcorn, drinks and nachos. The last movie of the day shows at 10 p.m. for those who want to catch a late night date movie or just want to hang out alone at the theater. The Spartan 16 located at 855 Spartan Blvd. in Spartanburg, plays first run movies with their last showing at 10.50 for the night owls. Admission prices are $8.50 for adults, $7.00 for students with a discount for seniors. The Spartan 16 has very comfortable seating with a lobby that is built for the comfort and convenience of its patrons. They also have video games the kids can enjoy if you just happen to get to the theater early. Carmike 7 is an excellent family style theater with wall to wall movie screens and comfortable, stadium style seating in their high back chairs. They play lots of first run movies in digital surround sound. Come and join them on movie night and be treated to a top notch concession stand where you can get free refills on large popcorn and drinks. The theater and seating are easily accessible to people with disabilities. And their movie prices are just $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. This is a wonderful theater to choose to take your kids to for their Saturday night entertainment. It’s very conveniently located at 1986 East Main ST. in Spartanburg, which is in Hillcrest mall near many of the local restaurants and shopping centers. The Regal Hollywood cinema at 1025 Woodruff Rd. in Greenville S.C. is one of the top theaters in the area. They often show first time movies on their giant wall to wall screens. You’ll be treated to comfortable seating, digital surround sound, and a top of the line snack bar with all your favorites including candy, popcorn, drinks and nachos.
