Top 10 Upcoming Funny Movies of 2011

Check out the best upcoming funny movies of 2011. From teachers and bridesmaids behaving badly to aliens and medieval stoner movies, there’s all kinds of comedy coming your way in the upcoming funny movies of 2011. Here’s a sneak peak at 10 of the best:

Paul- One of the best upcoming funny movies of 2011 takes the stars of “Shaun of the Dead”, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, and pits them against an alien in lieu of the undead. Well, actually they end up trying to help the little green man voiced by “The Green Hornet” star Seth Rogen when he steals their RV in an attempt to escape from a top-secret military base. So if you’re tired of super-serious sci-fi like “Super 8”, take a break with one of the more unique upcoming funny movies of 2011, courtesy of the director of “Superbad”. “Paul” invades theaters on March 18, 2011.

Super– Fans of “Kick-Ass” should enjoy another of the upcoming funny movies of 2011 targeting the geeky crowd, as average Joe superheroes take to the streets once again. This time Rainn Wilson is a caped crusader who calls himself the Crimson Bolt out for revenge against the drug dealer (Kevin Bacon) that his wife (Liv Tyler) ran off with. Ellen Page plays a cute comic book clerk that becomes his sidekick, and the duo set out to take down the drug dealer down with the help of the Crimson Bolt’s trusty pipe wrench. So with an incredible cast and another fun look at what a real-life superhero would really be like, this is one of the upcoming funny movies of 2011 in limited release that you’ve definitely got to catch if you get the chance (and hopefully you won’t leave the theater feeling like a fool when it opens on April 1, 2011).

Your Highness – Natalie Portman fans should enjoy seeing her team up with another fellow brunette babe, Zooey Deschanel, in what will definitely be one of the best funny upcoming stoner movies of 2011 (the title is obviously a reference to royal reefer). Natalie dons a medieval thong in the trailer for this flick about a slacker prince (Danny McBride) and his perfect brother (James Franco) that team up to save a princess (Zooey Deschanel), while Natalie Portman joins them as a bodacious warrior babe. So with eye-candy for everyone; adventure; magic; monsters; and an R-rating, the latest from the director of “Pineapple Express” is one of the upcoming funny movies of 2011 that will surely impress. The epic journey begins on April 8, 2011.

Crazy, Stupid, Love– The guys that brought us “Bad Santa” and “I Love You Phillip Morris” bring us one of the best upcoming funny movies of 2011 in this film about a man (Steve Carell) whose wife (Julianne Moore) cheats on him and divorces him. In the midst of his sulking, a ladies’ man (Ryan Gosling) takes the divorcee under his wing to try and help him get back into the swing of things as a single guy. Throw new Hollywood “It” girl Emma Stone into the mix, and this killer cast just has to spell success. See if it’s worth all the star power on April 22, 2011.

Bridesmaids– Here’s one of the best upcoming movies of 2011 for the ladies that’s not of the rom-com kind. Kristen Wiig (who also plays a part in “Paul”) stars as a maid of honor from the Midwest doing her best for her soon-to-be-wed best friend (Maya Rudolph) by trying to please her snobby bridesmaids. In short, it looks a bit like “Mean Girls” with older women and a wedding thrown in the mix. Perhaps it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it is one of the only upcoming funny movies of 2011 that offers a female-centric storyline that’s not of the romantic kind (there’s more to being a woman than hilariously falling in love, after all). See if this one is better than “Bride Wars” on May 13, 2011.

The Hangover 2– And here’s one of the most anticipated upcoming funny movies of 2011. Stu is getting married in Thailand, so that gives him and his buddies whole new ways to get into trouble. So can it match the original’s R-rated box office magic? Check it out on May 26, 2011 to see if it can top a tiger in the bathroom; a run-in with Mike Tyson; and a mysterious baby missing its mom.

Bad Teacher – Cameron Diaz stars in another of the best upcoming funny movies of 2011 featuring a female lead that definitely looks like its not your average romantic comedy. In fact, this looks like the anti-rom-com, as Cameron Diaz plays a devious teacher with a potty mouth and a sinister plot to win over a colleague (and the object of a much nicer teacher’s affection) after losing her sugar daddy. Cameron Diaz definitely looks sexy in some stills from the film, and it will be interesting to see her star alongside her ex, Justin Timberlake. Add Jason Segel and Lucy Punch to the cast, and this definitely becomes one of the upcoming funny movies of 2011 that could pack a real punch at the box office. See if Cameron Diaz can recover some of that “There’s Something About Mary” magic by playing the complete opposite of the character that she first won us over with on June 17, 2011.

Friends with Benefits- In lieu of Natalie Portman’s comedy about a girl and guy that decide to start a strictly sexual relationship, “No Strings Attached”, I’ve chosen her “Black Swan” co-star Mila Kunis’ movie with the same premise. So what makes this one of the best upcoming funny movies of 2011 while Natalie Portman’s is not? Well, the lack of Ashton Kutcher, for one thing (Justin Timberlake is the lucky guy in this dream relationship). Plus the trailer looks raunchier and much funnier, and this one comes from the director of “Easy A”. So when it comes to the best upcoming funny movies of 2011 about a guy’s dream come true, I’d definitely recommend seeing this summer flick over its January cousin. Check it out on July 22, 2010.

Wanderlust– Okay, so Jennifer Aniston still hasn’t seemed to have found her cinematic stride. However, I’m willing to give her yet another chance in this movie about a married couple that escape modern-day society by joining a commune. Paul Rudd plays her better half while the guy that brought us “Role Models” directs, so I think this could be one of the upcoming funny movies of 2011 that surprises us. Wander to the theater to check it out on October 7, 2011.

A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas – This is one of the upcoming funny movies of 2011 with a built-in crowd, as those looking for some fun holiday films to watch in a theater that’s not full of kids will definitely consider checking this one out. Harold and Kumar’s new adventure is all about finding the perfect Christmas tree, but it’s hard not to be most excited about the best Christmas gift audiences can receive: more NPH! Check out this new holiday classic on December 23, 2011.

So from stoner flicks to sexy comedies, the upcoming funny movies of 2011 are loaded with laughs, and 2011 is looking like a very good year for comedy.
