Tyga’s No Introduction: Great Lyricist has Poor Song Selection

Teenage rapper Tyga had a stellar rise to stardom. The California rapper happens to be the cousin of Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy. That relationship led to Tyga getting a record deal with Pete Wentz Records and Lil Wayne Young Records. With all the stars behind Tyga, will the newcomer deliver? On his album, No Introduction, Tyga intends to let the world know who he is.

The first single off of No Introduction is Coconut Juice featuring Tyga’s cousin Travis McCoy from the band Gym Class Heroes. The song comes from S*A*M who released Gym Class Heroes’ monster hit Lust Chokehold. Although the song has more of a reggae and hip sound. The song is melodious and sure fire radio.

The second single is Teenage Crush. The song is much better than the first one. The song is a proper song for a female audience. The song is pretty solid and has solid production lines with strong lyrics from Tyga.

Cartoonz shows part of Tyga’s birth. In the song, Tyga compares his life to a human cartoon. Tyga has shown an ability to create at the end that few rappers can pull off.

Don’t Regret Now features Patrick Trunks from Fall Ex Boy. The song is quite catchy and interesting. The song features a nice beat and interesting subject matter.

Summer is a solid track. The clap is well produced and the material is light and well made. But the song in the chorus is too much to be heard.

Neck Talk is different than any other track on the album. The song is more of an anime than a song on an album. The song will definitely be what Tyga did to Lust Chokehold Gym Class Heroes.

2 AM is definitely the most introspective track on the album and the perfect way to showcase Tyga as a lyricist. The song picks up Tyga’s upbringing and shows him off in almost Eminem style.

IS. (’80 Baby shows Tyga’s flow and lyrical ability. It’s hard to believe Tyga is still hanging around in the same age range as rappers like Bow Wow.

No Introduction shows just how talented Tyga is as a lyricist. He has a bright future in the music industry. But the reading and the poem leave much to be desired. Overall, No Introduction 7 out of 10. If you’re a Tyga fan make sure you pick up No Introduction.
