Will Seattle’s City Pass Save You Money?

Renovated for 2014

When our family went to Seattle last month, we quickly learned about a discount program for tourists called “City Pass.” The Seattle City Pass includes six tickets to popular Seattle attractions and as a guest saves up to 45% off the price of admission. One option is the City Pass, which is good for up to nine days after purchase, which gives the family plenty of time to see everything.

For adults, the city of Seattle charged $74 and $49 for children. The pass includes admission to Space-needle, Seattle Aquarium, Argos Harbor Tour, Woodland Park Ticket, Pacific Science Center and either the Museum of Flight OR the Experience Museum Project/Science Fiction Museum. Considering regular admission to all six of these places is about $134 per adult, the Seattle City Pass seems like a real savings.

Mathew do it first

Most visitors to Seattle don’t learn about City Transit until they’re waiting in line for the first attraction. This really isn’t the best time to be thinking about the added expense of looking at all the different attractions your family plans for the coming week, and then deciding if City Pass will actually save you money.

A little before planning is the best way to determine if Transit Seattle City is really a deal. Before hitting the Seattle attractions, your family should decide ahead of time what sites you want to see. If you have at least five attractions on your “must see” list, then Pass City is the real deal. Four or less, then you’ll find like our family did that it makes more sense to buy individual tickets.

Let us save money with other discounts

Our family decided not to buy a Seattle City Pass while visiting Seattle which ended up being a good decision. We ended up only having six of Seattle’s two “popular attractions” plus seeing both the Museum of Flight and EMP/SFM which would have cost us extra anyway.

For us, we bought individual tickets and combining them with AAA discount or coupon found in the “Enjoy Seattle Attractions” guide was better agreement We found it in Seattle Flats in Washington State and at the airport terminal in the city. The guide can also be downloaded from the Seattle Library website Coupons range from $1 to $5 for various Seattle attractions.

A little better than coupon discounts were the AAA club discounts on some amenities. Some of AAA’s participating attractions included the Museum of Flight and the Experience Museum Project/Science Fiction Museum, which cut off 20% of the cost of admission.

Visiting and staying in Seattle can be expensive for family vacation. If you have time to see everything, then Transit City Seattle will definitely save you money. If not, individual discount tickets is the way to go.
