If you want to get more value out of your small and medium sized Playmobil kits, consider getting some of these awesome add-on sets. These are the little extras that can add a great touch to scenes and get the kids a big kick. I started buying various figures but never had any intention of collecting them until I saw how many Playmobil products there were in the line. While they don’t have as much replay value as Lego mini figures, they are a lot easier for younger kids to play with. there are many things that can be solved”.
Like the themed packages that were once in the Special and Pals categories, they now have their own placement in the Playmobil Product catalog. These are a great investment for anyone who loves to collect Playmobil figures and characters or if you need more figures in a scene. Some of the best new file themes include the following:
Egyptian Style: (7386) This set has four figures and some great accessories that can be used with an Egyptian or Roman theme. There are two adult and two children figures and all are made in the typical Playmobil scale for both age groups. There are two different themes that make this work so whether you just collect figurines or build huge individual scenes, this is a must have for family decorators.
Family Packs: Playmobil goes to many cultures with the addition of Asia, Caucasian, Mediterranean. and puts the African American figure. These are all priced at $10.99 and include four figures and related accessories.
African Nations: (7460) Three highly detailed and decorated figures make a nice addition to a mini figure collection or as a way to create your own scene. You can also get an African Master for about four dollars.
Grievous Thieves: like almost all other figures in the add-on packs, there are three in the total set and one in the supplement. All four of them can be used with Egyptian or Roman scenes, but with a little creativity and imagination, you can use them with other scenes, or make them from scratch. These are also nice member figures of the Pharaohs (7382 and 7383) attached to the soldiers and they have the same price of $2.99 to $3.99 for a single figure and $8.99 to $9.99 for a three pack.
Castle Themes: Lovers of castle Soldiers Market Stand will want ton forts and large stand alone structures that house a lot of weapons and common items. That sells for about $25.00; if this is a little too rich for your blood you can have the Castle Treasury Interior (7470) or the Castle Kitchen Interior (7469). Running out of Playmobil figures in your castle scene? In addition to the plethora of Specials and Kill Pals you can also get the Knight Family (7757) but the most impressive of the Knight Add On sets is the Militia and Castle Treasure (7371) which is worth about ten dollars.
Animals: There is no shortage of animals to choose from when shopping for a Playmobil accessory pack. You can choose from farm animals or common wild critters but there are also some strange ones. If you have a beach or beach scene that needs something extra, consider the Orca Whale (7654) that actually floats! You can also get a mother dolphin and calf (7363) or a combo pack of Manta Ray and Swordfish (7434). One of the cutest assortments in the Playmobil Add In series is the Panda Family which contains four figures; It’s a steal at just $6.99. For the same price, you can also pick up a three-pack of goats (7397) or for a dollar less a four-pack (7226).
Expansions: If you’ve invested in one of the big Hospital buildings but are running out of room, you’re in luck because there are new additions with which you can expand your capacity. These structures adhere to existing structures and are seamless, they do not have a different size or scale. Hospital Expansion Flooring costs around $40.00 and is a three-level plan. You can also get a complete set of fixtures (bed, appliances, toilet) for about $16.00. The operating room is one of the latest all-inclusive sets that come with mini figures and a large viewing screen. If you toy store are well stocked in your area that sells Playmobil, you may be able to find some of the older Special and Pals sets of doctors, nurses and patients.
Town and City: Kids who fell in love with a police station or a fire station would love to have some Playmobil Add On sets for both themes. The extension pack for the police station costs $26.99 but it adds so much space that you never have to worry about criminals getting away. Police accessories packs contain some of the coolest things ever for the theme including sleeves, armor, binoculars, batons and toys, flashlights and hats. One of the biggest things you can add to your fire station is the Fire Fighter set (5705) because you’ve added a mini structure and a female figure and two fire fighters. The Fire Station building extension is only $10.99 and allows you to add three rooms and a tower to your existing scene.
Medieval Quest: One of my favorite additions is the Green Dragon (7876), it looks great with any castle scene and can be used in a number of ways. This is an oversized but incredible looking dragon that comes with a golden chain, a red flame coming out of its mouth and a rather evil look. There are so many ways to use this scene that you will have a lot of fun By using it on the top of the walls of the castle or on things set on fire. It is a little on the expensive side with a suggested retail price in the $18.00 range. There are smaller dragons that you can buy, but if you want to add a dragon to the scene you should go super sized or don’t bother. On a final note, the green dragon should not be confused with the hydra (three-headed snake) or the red dragon.
If you happen to have a Playmobil dealer in your area, they have some catalogs running; there is a mini catalog inside that has some of the best things you can add in ingredients and supplements.
