Spirits at Furnace Creek Inn is announced by Chef James Marques. Chef Marquez worked at the Furnace Creek Inn from 1959 to 1973. He was forced to retire due to illness and died three years later.
When Chef James Marquez passed away, special events took place in the kitchen and the dining room secretly opened and the doors closed. Employees reported hearing a bang in the middle of the night in the dining room. Legend has it that the kitchen was also organized. History of Furnace Creek Inn
Furnace Creek Inn is in Death Valley, which can reach extreme temperatures of 125 degrees in the summer. Death Valley has an extraordinary clear air, which makes it a great place for Hollywood movies to be made. The home industry loves light air because it makes the colors more vivid and lively on film. Furnax Creek Inn in 1927. The mission building was placed on a low ridge overlooking Furnax Creek Lava. The Adobe bricks are made by hand by Paiute and Shoshone Indian workers.
In the year 1930 a recreational pool for swimming was built. Water is piped in into and through the pond into the hostel’s gardens and into the park. The pool water remains naturally filtered at a constant 85 degrees.
The restaurant was a popular destination, even during the years of the Great Depression. Since the road conditions were not good through the desert, it was decided to advance the practice to Death Valley and Ronopah & Tidewater Railroads provide transportation to the inn. The Transcontinental, Union Pacific and Sante Fe railroads have promoted packages for tourists traveling to Death Valley Junction.
In the 1930s it provided private entertainment to celebrities including William Powell, Claudette Colbert, John Barrymore, Bette Davis and Jimmy Stewart. Clark Gable and Carole Lombard eloped, married in Kingman, Arizona and had a wedding at Furnace Creek Inn.
The Furnace Creek Inn was closed during World War 2 for 2 years from 1942 to 1945. The inn was dug up after the war, as elegant as ever.
