The purpose of this document is to assist undergraduate petroleum engineering students looking for internships and co-op opportunities in the oil and gas industry. We have compiled a notable list of companies that host quality internship programs as well as a brief note of some significance about the company. My goal is to make the search process for petroleum engineering internships more convenient. With this list, you can do less searching and evaluating. I also divided the groups into general groups for a more detailed approach.
Big Five
These are the five largest integrated oil exploration and production companies in the world. They offer jobs in all areas of the petroleum business. Research, exploration, drilling, fulfillment, production, transportation, marketing – you name the sector, they have their hands in it and they can train you. Their purpose is exploration and production. Because of the great stature and size of the successful business, probably its internal more (on average).
ExxonMobil
ExxonMobil is the largest public exploration and production company in the world. He is also the greatest author in the world. Although all of the internships on this list are going to be relatively competitive, ExxonMobil may have some of the highest standards. When they approached my university to recruit them, a 3.3 minimum GPA was required just to be eligible for an interview.

Oilfield Service Companies
Service companies differ from exploration and production (E&P;) companies in that they do not do the work; given works from E&P; team Service companies could also do some research – but they have to be paid by E&P; to make a partnership. Generally, companies service contract to provide seismic, technical, character, completion and production support. They often have the rights to use advanced software and train experts to use the software. Norm Warpinski, chief technology officer for Pinnacle, a Halliburton service company, had this to say about the difference: “From a corporate perspective, major service companies provide a full range of services from exploration through desertification, addressing the needs of E& to be experienced material in that technical collaboration with an individual E&P who is more likely to have a broader concern and a broader perspective of the oil field.” These societies are of greater service

They offer great internships, co-ops and positions for new graduates.

Private Company
BOPCO, L.P.
BOPCO, L.P. is a private company with a long history that can be traced back to the oil business started by Sid Richardson of Fort Worth< /a>, Texas. The company does not have a site and the company’s managers have clearly expressed that they do not need what is private. BOPCO is now owned by the Bass family (Sid Richardson is the grandson of his former partner Perry Bass) who is closely related to the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area. The representatives of the company also expressed that the company is very well funded by the family and has a very strong financial position. Because the company is without a web presence, it is difficult to find information on the web or working there. The company is actively recruiting at universities that offer petroleum engineering as a course of study, if you are interested, I encourage you to check out the campus’s career center.
This list is not all-inclusive. There are other companies that I’m sure offer quality software. Start with the companies that visit your university to recruit – some of them may not be on this list and it’s best to start when you’ll have a better shot at interviewing them. Many of these companies may not recruit at your school, however. If not, use this list as a guide to help you find a company that fits your career goals and don’t forget to work with your career center. Sometimes career centers can arrange for special meetings and exhibitions for companies that are not otherwise recruited at school if the student a> shows a lot of interest . Good luck in your search!
