No one would be a pirate without a treasure map! And my pirate is no different! We decided that the saura table would be a great way to tie in the pirate theme to the room, plus it would be a great project to do together.
Throw pillows, corkboard and a blanket with a pirate map on them were probably the most time consuming to prepare but the most fun for both of us/ With my son, using his “treasure board” plan, we drew a map on paper. craft paper Pillow size. He wanted to take his ship on his way, adding a stone skull and some palm trees.
In addition to drawing a pirate ship, several maps were his design and for that reason, he is extremely proud of his part of the room. From there I took the model and transferred it into various objects using carbon paper.
I then drew each piece using permanent sharpie markers in various thicknesses and colors. Since SHARPIES now come in so many colors, the sky’s the limit as to how you can get creative with this project. You can certainly use fabric, but they are much more expensive than SHARPIES so I made do with what I had available.
My carpet square was bought at my local HY VEE as a sample carpet for about $1.50, on cork board at HOBBY LOBY for under $5.00, pillow in PARMA $5.00 For under $15 there are three completed projects and great additions to the pirates with great effort or skill.
. . . . .
