Seaside Highland Games in Ventura, CA

The 7th Highland Seaside Games in Ventura is expected to be the biggest and most entertaining in the event’s history.

Treat yourself to all the excitement of a trip to Scotland, with the things you want to see and do most in one convenient place. Music and dance, British food, clandestine stalls, restaurants, children’s clubs, and great deals. you’ll just find some exciting events at the 7th Seaside Highland Games in Ventura.

Get yourself into the spirit early in the Friday night Whiskey Tasting, an evening of food, entertainment, and an opportunity to learn while sampling a variety of whiskeys.

Chief Guest Mrs. Barbara Hay, British Consul General in Southern California, will officially declare the games open at noon on Saturday, October 10 , in the Opening Ceremonies and in the Grand Parade.

The Highland games are geared towards families with plenty to keep us boys and girls entertained. Athletic events are age- and size-specific so that everyone can participate in traditional displays of strength and skill. Delight

The talent lined up for this year’s game surpasses anything you’ll find in Scotland this weekend.

Alex Beaton is the most famous Scottish folk singer in North America. His warm stage presence and extensive repertoire will draw attention to each performance.

Mali Haggis’ music is a fusion of Celtic rock music, alternative, jazz, pop, African and Latin influences that needs to be heard to be believed. it is. Eric Rigler, the captain of Bad Haggis, is the amazing piper from the Titanic movies, Million Dollar Baby and episodes of Battlestar Galactica, to name a few. Rigler has been described as “the most famous whistleblower of all time” and once performed at President Ronald Reagan’s funeral. Typically Celtic musical talent is provided by the Highland Way, and the Tinkers are unfair.

The Celtic Fountain will return with exciting entertainment from the Woods family from Ojai. This talented family will transport you to the Celtic lands of Scotland and Ireland with their live music and dancing. The famous Claddagh School Irish Dance will be performed at the Games for the first time.

Special species

Re-enactments by Bydand Eternal arrangement and Banner Warriors will take you back in time to see the battles of men dressed in the costumes or Tartars of their time.

History

For centuries the people of Scotland have gathered in villages once a year for various military, recreational and religious activities. It could very well have been their only holiday, and they passed the time with athletic performances, playing lutes and traditional dances.

Today, Scottish games are held all over the world, wherever Scots have made their home. The Highland Sea Games in Central California were organized to fill the empty Scottish presence.
