A Problem with Online Education and For-Profit Colleges

I am a student at the University of Phoenix. I am also an online college teacher. I have seen the best and the worst of both worlds because I exist in a mixture of both. As a student I learned what it means to work as a student at a university. While learning and educating myself at the Academy I quickly learned how the Academy worked at an administrative level. While working as a teacher in a college I immediately learned that not many students take their college education seriously while an online university. This is disturbing to me, but it is true from my own experience.

Last night I received an email from the University of Phoenix to defend my accreditation. I ran through it and then ignored it. I posted another email where the university simply touted their success and glory. It makes no difference to them that they should not take their minds.

The next morning and as I usually open my email, before I go directly to my bike, I scroll through the messages to see if anything odd has caught my attention. By chance, I noticed the tagline of the article that state has something to do with online universities. through allegations and accreditations. The University of Phoenix is facing a potential trial because of suspected deficiencies related to its administrative structure and governance. This is a problem because the company needs their accreditation in order to get a student loan. For-profit institutions and student loans are where they make their money.

“Shares of the education company fell 4 percent to their lowest level in 12 months. Apollo Group shares fell 75 cents to close at $17.83, sinking as low as $17.81, a new 52-week low. In after-hours trading, the stock lost 43 cents to $17.40, it has fallen more than 60 percent in the last 12 months.

This is a question about for-profit colleges. Universities are not about providing a solid education to their students. They ask students to enroll more of them because they are not an institution that is trying to provide education. They are organizations that operate as a business. More students, means more student-loans, which means more money for partners. The University of Phoenix is not a traditional educational institution. They are a business in the form of an educator. Student loan debt recently surpassed credit card debt in the United States. The business seems to resonate with the hope and simplicity of those who are trying to better themselves.

I was one of those people who had been taught my whole life that the better you had to go to college in the future. I was also one of those who didn’t have the opportunity to attend traditional college. To try and make my family’s life better, I found college online, and I found work to better ours. the future Several years later, rising student loan debt, almost two degrees and no job opportunities, and now seemingly inevitable academic sanctions at the University of Phoenix, this idea that college aims to make your life better is less of an idea and more of an illusion. . I blame no one else for my judgments but myself. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you how upset I am about those very decisions.

On the plus side, my grades look very nice on the bookshelf in my office. That’s something.

I guess
