Whenever something new comes to Lush.com, I always make it a point to try it out as soon as my money allows. I try and check out Lush.com though, because every time I place an order for something I like, I end up with an order that is bigger than what I ordered.
This time around though I just went to the new site and didn’t do anything on the spur of the moment. I’ve had my eyes on the Sunny Lemon Soap for a while now, and I finally decided to place an order, because I knew if they weren’t they would pass up, and I’d put something new in its place.
The sunny citrus arrived at my door in about 2 weeks, give or take a day or so. Now the rich ass packages are a little different. Instead of the usual clear packaging that my Lush items came in, I got my soap in a deli style package.
The paper was drawn, and I finally went to meet Sunny Citron up close and personal.
Appearance:
Sunny Citrus in a happy place looks like a mass of butter. It appears to have the same color and texture as butter in situ. I only found out by looking online that it was a cream based soap.
A sunny citrus in person, though he looked a little different. It had a buttery color to it, but not as bad looking as it was in the photo. In all respects the sunny Citrus looks more beautiful in person; usually when it comes to Lush photos online, it’s the other way around. The setting makes the soap look more beautiful than it is. This time though it was the opposite.
Smell outside the shower:
Rich soaps tend to have this weird little thing that happens where out of the shower the soap smells different, and as soon as you get the water on the bar and bring it to your skin, it smells a little different, or in some cases, completely different. .
Sunny Citrus has a sweet and pleasant orange cream scent and is easy to like, but for me it lacked the kick that many of their Lush fragrances contain. The sunny citrus was just average. I was expecting a much stronger smell. Unfortunately this was not the case.
My experience:
Before I step into my bath tub to take a shower, I first cut off a few small pieces of a sunny lemon. The rich herbs melt the kind quickly, so that in order to taste every particle of soap, I always cut it into pieces and carry a sandwich bag in my purse. Seeing as how creamy the Sunny Citrus soap is, I had this almost immediately upon arrival.
Smell in the Rain:
Now that’s more like it! The sunny citrus ignited my senses the moment I started rubbing it around my skin. It smelled like a golden cream power bars than what he had outside the shower.
The smell filled the room, and I was happy. or I should have been happier if the dried scent had stood before me. Unfortunately this was not the case. The sunny citrus scent disappeared and I put the towel to my skin in a moment.
Later:
Sunny Citrus lathers differently than the cheap borith you find over the counter at drugstores. Sunny Citrus does not boil, and does not leave any suds. For sunny Citrus, coat your skin with a creamy texture that feels and looks like it’s melting. The father (if that is what you mean) has a subtle yellow color.
All in all I love Lush’ cream based soaps especially because they leave the skin feeling extra soft and really moisturized, and this was exactly what Citrus Citrus delivered.
Over:
Sunny Citrus delivers the heavy cream scent of your rain but not your skin, yet leaves your skin soft. > And wet.
Would I Buy Sunny Lemon Again?
I have bought a few Lush soaps over and over again. Sultana is one of them. Not many boriths impress me enough to make me want to buy them again and again.
Although Sunny Citrus is a nice soap in the Borith Lush collection, I don’t see myself buying it again. I bought it for myself to try, I was impressed, but not enough to add it to my car again in the future. Probably Sunny Citrus is one of those scents that will stick around in the summer, and stop right when fall hits.
Where to buy/Pricing:
Sunny Citrus can be found in any local Lush store, or online at Lush.com. It comes to $6.95 for a 3.5 ounce bar.
