A few weeks ago, I decided that I wanted to spend part of my summer lying on a deck, enjoying the sun and relaxing in the water. So I got Sun ‘N Sand, a 12 foot diameter pool. This particular pool is the type with metal supports (as opposed to an inflatable top ring.) The pool is 3 feet deep, so mine is about waist deep.
I chose this particular size of the pool because the space in my backyard was limited by the number of trees I chose. I couldn’t have a bigger pool than just a couple of trees on the road. I couldn’t find a pool with a diameter of 12 feet in any of my local stores, so I ordered from Wal-Mart online.
The pond arrived a few days later on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning, with the help of my sister, I went to the work of erecting a pool so that I could start my summer lying on my big float. The box he entered into the tank indicated that this particular tank of water would be ready in about ten minutes. In fact, it took about an hour before he could add water to the tank. But as my clock, that is the greatest clock. The hour was not important to me. Once the frame was together and the pond looked stable, I began to fill the pond with water. This for some time. I started filling the tank at about 11:00 AM on Saturday morning and the water ran into it until about 2:30 PM. Then I did the same on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday afternoon, the tank was full of water, and I started running the filter/pump, added the stabilizer and let it go. filtered through water.
It took a week for the water to warm up enough to swim. When he heated the pool, he spent some sunny afternoons lying in the pool and floating. The relaxation is priceless.
While I really enjoy the pool, there are two things I would change about it. First, when I can cut the first two logs, I will upgrade to one of the 24 foot diameter tanks. I would love to have more space to swim in the water. The second thing I would change is the pump/filter. I ended up getting a bigger pump/filter for the tank. I just don’t think the pump/strainer/strainer that came with the tank is strong enough to adequately pump water through the tank. The suction just wasn’t able to pull insects and other small particles from the pool filter. I will keep everyone updated once the new pump/filter is installed.
It’s just that it’s a lot of fun. It is very easy to clean and maintain. I’ve been empty two times, and the net has been summed up several times. The simplicity of the installation still amazes me. Almost too easy! Hopefully, I will continue to enjoy my pool this year and be able to work on something bigger next year.
