Acetone: The Amazing Gasoline Additive Found in Make Up

I recently came across a story about nail polish remover (acetone) as the best method of increasing one’s mileage per nail. I did a little research on the topic and discovered some interesting things. This research prompted me to try adding an additive to my gas tank…and it seems to be working.

First you determine how much fuel you want to pump into your vehicle. This is important because you only want to add one ounce of acetone to 5 gallons of fuel. And here’s a note… if you try this in the winter. be strong I pick up truck driving which has 25 tank. When fuel is close to three dollars per gallon I usually have to pop in 30 dollars for 10 gallons of fuel. And before I do the pumping.. Fill one ounce plastic to the half mark with acetone. I pour in the acetone first, and then the gasoline. This causes the gasoline to mix with the acetone. Here where I live, the local gas station took them to demand payment before pumping. And as acetone can evaporate very quickly, you must first pre-charge and prepare for the pump, before adding the acetone.

This is what happens with acetone. Almost all of them are fueled by fuel easier or faster. Now the engine refinishing companies are already doing this with some other additives used to help your engine start easier and faster on cold winter mornings. And also to stabilize the focus to make your vehicle more drivable and user-friendly. Don’t use the fuel before you put in all the additives. It is an easier fuel to vaporize.

My old truck several years ago with high mileage saw a reduction in miles. I wanted to be with him. As the engine ages things tend to wear off.. It’s more of a blow past rings, for example, not as much boost from the air/fuel mixture as you should. The valves don’t sit like they used to and so the compression isn’t as high as it used to be. Before trying the acetone the vehicle was getting maybe 15 mpg. I drive about 170 miles in five days a week. Ten gallons of fuel at 15 mpg, I put more gas from Thursday! After acetone the mpg went up almost 60%! A shot of ten gallons of fire now takes me up to 250 miles. I leave about 25 miles per gallon. I can drive all week and it’s still Monday’s food.

I see little interest in how he pushes or responds… I don’t see a sudden increase in horse power. If I had to point it out to someone…I would say that I don’t need to throttle as much as I usually do once I get to cruising speed. And really, this is where everyone spends a lot of time behind the wheel.. on the daily speed road.

Now.. I am a conservative driver. No speed starts, no speed. My truck is a 5 speed standard shift with overdrive and running a medium v-6 engine. This 60% increase in fuel mileage just amazes me. Your results will vary. But as a great ex. Get a tune up…a new air filter, proper pressure on your tires…drive with some common sense..and hopefully you’ll see an improvement in your MPG too.

Having said all of this, I would encourage anyone who might be interested in trying this out to do your own research. It may have the potential to void your warranty, for example. I saw one article mentioning that acetone is not good for some types of gaskets…it causes it to expand or deteriorate. And that can be especially important if your vehicle has fuel injection. Mine is not, the injection body has a choke (of course the carb. with the injector placed inside) so I didn’t hesitate to give it a try. Acetone does not like certain types of materials either. Another consideration might be winter driving.
