The Indianapolis Colts had a season to remember in 2006. All capped by a Superbowl victory over the Chicago Bears, which gave Peyton Manning his first championship and the belief that he could not win the “big one”.
So in 2007, the Cubs were one of the favorites for Superbowl 42. And they traveled well. They got a first-round bye, and San Diego were the hosts in the playoffs in the divisional round. But the Colts defense completely collapsed. In that game they gave up more yards, touchdowns and points than they had given up in a single game all season. The end result was a 414-yard run by the Rockets, and the game was originally about Peyton Manning, Tony Dungy, and the Colts.
Heading into the 2008 NFL Off-season, the Cubs should definitely be the best. While losing that game was completely inexcusable, they were still only one possession away from winning the game despite the abnormal ineffectiveness their defense displayed for the game.
However, they didn’t win the Superbowl, which means there are ways to improve this team. /a>.
One of the biggest things the Colts need to address is their cornerback situation. They need to be able to go one-on-one with Moss while bringing pressure through the blitz. You can do it without Marco Moss in making games and demanding all the attention of the chicks, there the chicks win. that game they lost to the Patriots in the middle of the season. The chicks really don’t need to be pulled out in the first round, so maybe they should try the shop standing around the corner. If they can’t figure out a trade for someone like Terrance McGee, Marcus Trufant will be in free agency if the Seahawks don’t hold him in free agency. Even then, it might be a good first-round pick because the Cubs are desperate to get someone who can play in one-on-one coverage with Moss for a few games.
Second, the Colts need to realize that Marvin Harrison is finally going to be a senior. They seem to have found the incumbent in Anthony Gonzalez, but who plays the Cubs’ position in the receiver slot in the event of another injury to Harrison? I think it would be wise if the Cubs go out and draft that next slot guy and use him in the offense all season long. They can’t have the problems they had in 2007 because Marvin Harrison wasn’t on the field. They will have enough receivers on the payroll who understand the offense and who have the talent to contribute if called upon. A first round pick receiver like Early Doucet, out of LSU, would be great for the Cubs. If they do trade for a cornerback, another one is Adarius Archer, from Oklahoma State, who would be a perfect fit for Colts offense of 2008.
