The last time I remember I had an asthma attack I went straight to the doctor to see if there was anything better than an inhaler. The doctor gave me a strange sample that reminded me of some communicator from a science fiction series. The object had disc-like qualities with a shutter that counted the numbers backwards. I had never seen such a purple thing, and it felt odd to hold and handle it. The strange thing, my doctor told me, was Advair.
Advair has a contraption or retractable lever to release the medication. The doctor told me to put my mouth in a hole that will be ready when I pull the bar back. They suck air from the hole just like a regular inhaler. The hole was small and seemed like more work for this type of inhaler. I couldn’t imagine missing the big fat mouth piece from the old inhaler; today’s leaders seem so foreign.
With the old inhalers, you just push the button to get your medication out without much effort. With this new technology, Advair is a “spirit of motion” that must be attracted to apply the drug. It’s not difficult, but you have to apply to get results.
What is also unique is the number of words. The abacus helps you keep track of your dose from the start of 60. When you hit 5, the numbers will be red to remind you to take a new one.
Effects of Advair
Advair is not intended for use when you are having an asthma attack. You have to wait for the medication to be done, unlike traditional inhalers, so you don’t see the immediate effect. However, what I love about the Purple Orb is that it helps me breathe much better than any other inhaler. On top of that, the taste of Advair seems very natural, as opposed to the medicinal qualities of other stimulants.
Another benefit of this inhaler is that it has a long-lasting effect. One will last about twelve hours. That’s almost twice the length of conventional inhalers.
Things about Advair
So what’s next for Advair? Advair treats asthma by preventing lung inflammation. It has a steroid called fluticasone that tries to reduce inflammation. Also, salmeterol is another important element. It works by relaxation of bronchial muscles for breathing. Essentially, both work to improve respiratory functions.
According to the company, parts are: Upper respiratory infections such as bronchitis, cough, nausea, pains; and stomach pains. But what is more important, this medication should not be used in an asthma attack. In fact, there is evidence that salmeterol has caused many asthma-related deaths.
After years of using Advair, I feel that the purple disc has greatly helped to improve my quality of life, less reliance on other medications and increased breathing. Consult your doctor before considering Advair.
