Almay’s One Coat Dial Up Mascara

The perfect mascara is something every makeup-weary gal will try to find throughout her makeup life. I have yet to find a mascara that will make me stop buying other brands.

While Almay’s One Coat Dial Up Mascara was one heck of a deal, I wouldn’t say it was the end all be all for me.

I found this mascara on the Dollar Tree store, so again, it just means buck. I know this product is not discontinued because I still see it on other sellers all the time. I don’t know why it was sold for only $1, but I couldn’t pass up such a deal.

I honestly had no intention of ever trying this mascara. I have found that most of the mascaras are spring, I mean how can one mascara deliver so many different looks?

The whole idea of this particular mascara is that you can turn the “dial” on the mascara tube and it will allow the brush to pick up more or less mascara, depending on what you want to achieve.

The bottle is nice, but it looks pretty cheap. It’s white and purple, but it can stand on my vanity, which is nice. Because of the white and thick packaging, it is easy to spot, which is a plus.

If you turn the clock to 1, then you can definitely feel that it is a little more difficult to pull the brush all the way through the stopper. Number 2 is a little easier, and setting the clock on 3 feels like there’s barely any sealant at all and too much mascara is left on the brush. This doesn’t make for “fuller lashes” like too much mascara.

I think this formula is a little runny, and I found it a little boring. I didn’t want to sweep the plastic bristle lashes too quickly and hit my eyelid. I find the brushes are shaped funny, and the bristles are too clumpy and short to really even wrap my lashes.

The shape of the bristles is hourglass, meaning that the brush becomes thinner in the middle, while it is thick at the base and tip. This shape is weird for my lashes and the mascara doesn’t coat well.

I find the mascara very clean, when it says it’s wet, I hope it’s a bit drying as other mascaras tend to do a few applications.

It has a very light scent, nothing too bad, just a typical mascara scent.

I find the clock too easy to turn, and it often turns when the cover is just cracked. Also, you don’t want to stay on the clock, and engage in a little work.

I will finish the tube so that it makes my lashes a little darker and a little thicker, but I won’t return this.

The price I paid for it was $1, but I never paid the price of about $7 for this.
