Amazon Kindle Fire HD (7” Display): At the Edge of E-reader Perfection!

Two years ago, when I got my Amazon Kindle Keyboard ebook reader, I had no idea what a positive impact that device would have on my reading habits. (By all accounts, I am a voracious reader, having read almost 20,000 pages per year for the past five years.) Besides reading, however, I spend a lot of time watching movies, browsing the web, and playing computer games. . Unfortunately, I can’t take my old and venerable laptop everywhere, and can’t fire up my keyboard, play the latest games< /a> or I fully grasp the web.

I discovered that I needed a new electronic partner that would completely meet my growing needs. It should be noted at the outset that my first use for a handheld electronic device was as an ebook reader, then as a general purpose tablet and PDA.

Several weeks of research led me to the best solution to my dilemma: I decided on an Amazon Fire HD 7 tablet/ebook reader (KFHD7). Over the past few weeks, I’ve been testing as much of my email partner as I could. You are asking. It serves a variety of purposes very well: it’s an ebook reader, a hi-definition video player, a super web browser, a game player, and a PDA . All with brilliantly clear 1200-by-800 video resolution, superb Dolby Surround audio, the fastest Wi-fi I’ve ever seen on any device, and the list of features is so long it’s impossible. name em all…

In this review I will focus on three qualities of the KFHD7 that I find most important: usability, ability to meet my expectations, and versatility and convenience.

How easy is it to use “OUT OF THE BOX?” Like all current generation tablets and other electronic devices on the market today, the KFHD7 is extremely well handled. Convenient size (7.6″ high x 5.4″ wide x 0.4″ thick) and weight (13.9 ounces). This is easy to carry almost anywhere. Even like the KFHD7’s older cousins in the Amazon family, the design of this device is simple and sleek. Front it has a 7″ display screen with Gorilla glass and a bezel wide enough to hold the device comfortably without getting your fingers on the display area. The back is made of black, fingerprint-resistant, high-impact plastic that feels good in the hand. Located on the back are two mono speakers that bring the KFHD7’s Dolby Surround sound to life. .The long edges of the top are the on/off switch and the volume rocker.

As with all the devices I purchased from Amazon, my KFHD7 was ready to go right out of the box. After charging the internal lithium-ion battery for an hour or so I turned the device on. I was immediately amazed by what I saw: the clearest, most vibrant, most vivid display I’ve ever seen on a computer device. (More on that later…)

My first test was KFHD7, of course reading books. All 106 of my Kindle ebooks came pre-loaded onto the device (a feature I find very convenient!). I found my reading on the KFHD7 to be more simple and straightforward than reading on my Kindle Keyboard. The KFHD7 uses touch screen buttons instead of physical controls to navigate through books, magazines, and other publications. Light touching the right page of the screen advances, and touching the left page returns. You can also “pinch” with your left or right finger to achieve the same results. Add signs by touching the upper right corner; A menu of options (including highlighting text, making notes, and finding deeper information through a feature called “X-ray.”) by touching the center of the screen. It’s all designed to be read as comfort as… well, reading a book. And it succeeds brilliantly.

Like its older cousins, the KFHD7 as an e-reader isn’t just limited to books. You can subscribe to an array of magazines and newspapers through the Amazon Appstore and read to your heart’s content. Of course, all images, pictures and other graphics are displayed in high definition gloss.

NOT MY BEST EXPECTATIONS? After that first test of my KFHD7 (letter flying in colors!) it was time to see how it met my other expectations. Here is how he did it;

Like movies: Through Amazon Prime, I have access to thousands of free streams. movies and TV shows, most of which streamed to KFHD7 in high definition video. I’ve watched several movies now and I haven’t seen a single instance of hesitation, stuttering, or breaking the signal. This happens with the KFHD7 advanced wi-fi system that uses two antennas and two frequency bands for perfect, glitch-free video and audio streaming.

Video Display: The KFHD7 comes with a true high definition display with a resolution of 1200 x 800 images and a pixel density of 216 pixels per inch. This makes the whole screen graphics incredibly clear, crisp, and bright. All six Kindle ebook readers are as sharp as you’ll find in the best “hard copy” books. High definition movies and TV shows live on the screen. And the game’s graphics are vibrant and light.

Audio: The KFHD7 uses Dolby Surround audio that provides crisp, clear, and nice balance between high, mid, and low frequencies. I, however, was amazed at the quality of the sound flowing from those minutes discussed in my later art. I think the audio is one of the strongest features of the KFHD7.

How versatile and convenient is it? One of my key expectations for my KFHD7 is: how capable is it in different settings? Can I take it anywhere and do everything I want with it? So far the answer is “yes”.

Connectivity: Unlike its Kindle Fire cousins, the KFHD7 doesn’t come equipped with 3G/4G cellular capability, but instead relies solely on its dual-band, dual-antenna Wi-Fi connectivity system. This means you can only access the Internet where wi-fi is available. (Fortunately, I have a knife that provides my KFHD7 with a hot spot, which solves this problem. ) As long as it is in place when I am able to connect via wi-fi, I can fully enjoy every feature, including live video streaming, browsing the web, and synchronizing books, magazines, and magazines via Amazon Whispernet / Whispersynch.

Turn on the accessories, battery life: My KFHD7 is configured in a nice “kiss”: mini-USB is only provided with the device cable. Other accessories – cases, right-handers, screen president – must be purchased separately. All of these are available from Amazon, as well as a large number of independent retailers. Cases and covers come in a variety of colors and sizes; with or without built-in lights; and reasonably cheap or quite expensive. I bought a good solid leather cover that provides plenty of protection for my KFHD7.

Battery life for the KFHD7 is almost as good as advertised. When the wi-fi is turned on, and reading with me an average of 2 – 3 hours per day, I can make a full battery case in about 2 – 3 days.

MY VERDICT: Over the past few weeks, my new Kindle Fire HD 7 has become a constant and enthusiastic “tablet/ebook reader. So far this is an excellent device. Because Kindle Fire HD7 met or exceeded all my expectations. Not only can I read more often and faster, I can also watch movies, play games, and browse the web almost anywhere I want. .
