The Clarity phone from Walker is yet another product I couldn’t live without. This is the best phone for hearing people, or family members with mixed hearing and deaf, that I have ever had.
The number of buttons are large and they light up, making glow in the dark very easy at night. you will find It also has the ability to talk on the phone, put someone on the phone, and put a plug in the head to chat hands free.
For hard of hearing the phone has several very useful features. The big beefy phone has a nice red light across the top that flashes when it rings. You can change the tone and rate of the fingertip to make it perfect for those who are “frequently deaf”. Those who can no longer hear “cricket chirps”, which are often at high frequencies, (and are often the first to go) can put the sound down with their finger so that they can feel it rather than hear it. You can also set the volume so loud that your neighbors can hear it, or turn the fingerprint sounds off completely.
The telephone is most compatible with hearing aids nor does the hearing user go “sqeee” from the feedback often caused by using a non-hearing telephone aid, very important consideration for those who must use hearing aids and cannot pick them up every time they make a phone call.
Perhaps the coolest thing about this phone is that everyone in the house can use it. It has a sliding bar, a unique “brightness setting” that allows you to change the amount of “brightness” for each conversation. The clarity system works well enough that many people who normally need hearing aids such as cell phones can hear the cell phone without them. This can make the difference in your bed when your phone vibrates in the middle of the night! The brightness can be turned on or off, and while it is sometimes a pain to reset it, it seems to be the law that requires it.
The phone also has a redial feature, a light in the corner that tells you when there is a signal, a ticket to take and three large buttons superimposed with images (for speed dialing fire, police or ambulance), as well as several speed dials for those numbers you can have quickly on the clock.
It can be placed on a desk or sit on the wall, making it versatile.
Clarity not a cheap phone, I paid around 74 USD for mine, but it is worth every penny. Can buy online or at Radio Shack where I got mine. It’s worth its weight in gold, and it’s much easier to communicate over the phone to those who need it most.
