And the Best Year for Oscars ‘Best Picture’ Goes to 1999

A similar Oscar hosting role will go to Billy Crystal. Now that we know Eddie Murphy is officially out and the eight-time host will be back on stage, it’s time to focus on the upcoming Oscar telecast.

Nominations Message

The nominations were announced on January 24, 2012 and published almost one month later, on February 26, 2012. The 2012 frontrunners include Woody Allen’s “The Middle of Paris,” Meryl Streep in “The Iron Lady” and George Clooney in “The Poster.”

Although no one knows for sure what will happen to the coveted red dress, one thing is for sure that the star stud will be something that will be discussed for months to come.

Lack of Quality

You will be honest; I’m not excited about this year’s Academy Awards. I haven’t moved in a while. It wasn’t really big in the best picture category at any time. Which year is the best? My strength is the select group of 1999.

“American Beauty”

This is one of my all time favorite movies. The writing in this movie was excellent and the acting was incredible. The event winner of Best Picture, “American Beauty” won the awards for Best Actor (Kevin Spacey), Best Director (Sam Mendes), Best Cinematography and Best Screenplay (Alan Ball). Ball went on to create other masterpieces such as “Six Feet Under” and “True Blood.”

“Cider House Rules”

This movie is adapted from a new script by John Irving. “The Cider House Rules” was not only nominated for Best Picture, but also nominated for Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Writing from an Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing. Although “American Beauty” lost for Best Picture, the new film brought back the golden statue for Best Actor (Michael Caine) and Best Screenplay by Adapted Screenplay (John Irving). This is one of the best screenplays. he broke the new movie, “The World According to Garp” starring funnyman Robin Williams them.

“The Mile”

Stephen King’s thriller about a group of Death Row guards and prisoners of medical faith has been nominated for several Oscars including Best Picture, Best Writing from Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound. The movie failed at the awards show but “The Green Mile” is arguably one of the best movies ever. King turned out to be one of the best movies ever. Apart from “A Thousand Greens”, the master of horror also introduced fans to “The Dark Half”, “Stand by Me” and “The Shawshank Redemption”.

“Insider”

This Russell Crowe moved the film to a few nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director. The film is based on an “insider” who decides to go on national television to expose one of the biggest industries in the world – tobacco. This movie was great because it was based on a true story that was seen on the television series “60 Minutes”. It was brilliant acting with Crowe and Al Pacino and is one of the greatest movies about the tobacco business. Another excellent movie about tobacco is “Thank You for Smoking.”

“The Sixth Sense”

I see a dead famous people line from this movie that was nominated for best picture. The first of many thrillers by writer/director M. Night Shyamalan, “The Sixth Sense” collects Oscar nominations in categories such as Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director and Best Screenplay (written for the screen). Play Bruce Willis dead the whole movie.

Although the Best Picture category was stacked with great films, the entire year turned out to be a terrific mass of movies. Other movies coming from 1999 were “The Matrix”, “Boys Don’t Cry”, “Fuge Club” “The Most Ingenious Mr. Ripley ,” “Sdornus Cavus” and “Magnolia.
