AOL Free Webmail, PDA and Calendar

At one time, AOl, or America Online, was our Internet service provider. I liked AOL very much; which were not equal to the monthly fees. Switching to PeoplePC as our ISP saves us $10-$20 per month. Unfortunately we have lost some AOL perks. We haven’t lost one and this one is the biggest one for me, it’s free AOL email and email with a personal, customizable calendar and organizer.

I have used several online calendaring and organizer programs. Some, like Cozi, require large downloads, tools and software. Cozi is fun to play with pictures and personals and all, but also Cozi slows down my computer, takes forever to load and is generally useless and annoying.

AOL Calendar does not require download. There are no fees, software, media or insurance to bother pestering the poor computer user who relies on a fast, user-friendly internet to earn their bread and butter. The AOl calendar can be completely customized to your preferences. And I don’t mean cutsey, useless personalities. I don’t care about the colors of my background, or what pictures decorate my calendar. I want a dynamic, I need an author. I want an online PDA, Blackberry and Franklin Planner all packaged up easily and neatly. That’s the AOL calendar itself.

This type of work is customizing. With six people in the family, it is necessary to be able to see with my own eyes what events are reported in my calendar; I need to organize many activities, calendars, social events, school events, work events. Here’s how I do it with AOL Calendar. Each calendar color is different. My work card is blue. My bill paying calendar is golden. Religious holidays: yellow. Jake’s schedule is green. Emma’s calendar is pink, our district peak is gray, and our family calendar is purple. Dad’s work is a brown card… you get the picture. At a glance, I can look at the calendar and see that I have one blue, one pink, two green and one gold event. Colors help me to organize not only our adventures and schedule, but also my mind, which is a huge need!

I can also add imported calendars from other online calendars. Our community events calendar, our church calendar, local library calendar; you name it – if the writer is online I can arrange this calendar with mine. I can also add to my private or public calendars. As a public calendar, I can join my friends who use the AOL calendar. My book club, golfing group, girls night out, TA, parents, group, anyone. I can set some calendars private and others public.

I can set up email alerts to remind me of certain things. I can tell you my fasts when you remind me. I can fix my AOL calendar and do everything at once. But that is a miracle.
