Are There Advantages to Driving Older Model Cars Versus New?

Every time I get into my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, or 1997 Jeep Wrangler, I sometimes think to myself what it would be like to buy a new car. Then the reality of my financial situation sets in and I see all the benefits that come from having a bigger car.

First I have no car payments and this thing is really liberating. The idea of paying $250 to $300 per month for five years just puts me on edge. That’s a lot of money that could be put to better use.

Secondly it is not always cheaper get a newer car with insurance companies will reduce the rate when You don’t make something so beautiful and new that people really want to steal it! I never have to worry about that! In fact, if they have stolen mine and run with all their tricks, then I really wonder about the talents of men. I will pursue them, to pick their brains, and learn from the teacher.

The third reason is that you can easily get parts from at least two sources, there is always a supply of parts that I need since there are still so many of these on the road today, and they even have auto recycling places. Some of these models are readily available as people leave and go on to purchase a newer model.

The Fourth reason is that I can always repair these vehicles by myself including computer systems. not too complicated. So with my cheap ten year olds I always have an “Actron” brand code reader. What could be wrong with them?

The fifth reason is that no one has ABS systems, which is one of the reasons many people have become such bad drivers. In fact, they don’t know how to work with the vehicle to avoid collisions and falling into ditches, when the car usually does a lot of thinking for them. They are the same ones who go too fast in the snow and are the first to get into the ditch. I charge, handle, abstain as much as ABS. If they are well trained how to use these advanced systems then we don’t have a problem.

The Sixth reason refers to the fact that I can still work on my goals without having to buy a $4000 ABS code storage computer. Some newer sensors have sensors on the pads model that don’t allow you to drive the car until the reader resets the computer’s signal after the pads are replaced, not to mention because of the high cost of parts, for example, the pad sets are over $600 for my friends 4 year old Audi A4.

The Seventh reason is that it just doesn’t work for me on newer cars. At least the older cars still had some style and character like their owners.

The eighth reason is that I don’t have to worry about any dirt inside or outside, which I know from experience to wipe off. New car owners are crazy about keeping them clean and I guess it makes sense if they just pay $25,000 or more for a new toy. They certainly don’t want to stretch out their hands in a circle.

I imagine that someday the time with a new car will be necessary but I doubt it. there will be a new show room model. Those carts will deduct faster than a cash paycheck to a dance club. So maybe it’s just the newer version that I have now, but we’ll just have to wait and see how things go next year.
