Audio Performance Review: “The Grapes of Wrath” by John Steinbeck

Once again I get to hear another fantastic production from L.A. At the Opera Theater, once again I could understand the whole action and production so I could go away from the rest of the world and enjoy the classic play. This time around, I got the audiobook Sync site from their SYNC YA summer audiobook program. Every summer they offer a couple of weeks of Adult fiction. There is a marriage between a new YA story and a classic story. This week’s book review comes with a book called The 11th Plague. I freed him later for safety. There are already several shows from L.A. I listened to Theatrical Works, and I knew I would love to perform this, So with two hours more of vehicles installed, I installed this new mp3 player and take the road.

The cast performed all the parts perfectly, that’s what with the sound effects and the music, and I was once again placed in the middle of the audience enjoying such a great performance. An interesting thing that was found in this production was the music performed by the Joel Rafael Band. Guthrie’s music had a very wooden sound and sometimes the lead vocalist sounded a lot like Bob Dylan in his younger years. They all played music and made for great transitions between scenes.

I have always had an idea of this story, since I read the book (often) to movie starring. Henry Fonda to Tom Joad. I think it’s mainly because it’s a great description of the tough times in America and the tough democratic race that took her to move, despite all the problems life throws at her. I also love the story because I grew up in Oklahoma and this story portrays the Okies as a tough type of people.

During the Great Depression, among the many things that affected the country was the Dust Bowl that affected Oklahoma. Severe drought and poor agricultural techniques fueled the various dust storms that decimated Oklahoma agriculture. The Okies were evicted from the farms and many went west to California where they promised business, through the handbills that worked in the fields and orchards. As the story tells, the problem is that many California farmers have used fake fakes to lure workers. Where the farm needed 500 workers, they would show print 5,000 hand the farm and maybe 1,000 workers. They needed to create double the population and many migrants were forced to live in poverty and even die in the work camps.

This story tells the experiences of the Joad Family as they made their way west and once they arrived with every little bit of food they struggle to feed the family, while Ma Joad tried to keep the family together. Finally, smart and organized workers come together to strike against poor working conditions and wages, but are threatened with violence by the farmers. and owners of California.

A huge historical epic by John Steinbeck that depicts the struggles of people and how we can survive as one. This performance from L.A. Theater Works is one of the best shows “Grapes of Wrath” I have ever heard. A must for anyone who appreciates classic literature.
