Kids love making awesome gifts for people they love, but sometimes crafts made from recycled materials don’t end up looking much better than something pulled from the recycling bin. No one wants to give an ugly gift. These three crafts are completely recycled and are fun and easy. Best of all, these projects look totally cool.
Pretty Brush Stand
You can use recycled toilet paper rolls as a beautiful brush or brush stand for your favorite artist, or a makeup brush stand for someone who he likes to get pretty. There are many resources for this project, and it is so easy that even a preschooler can do it. We prefer to paint ours in the classic ROY G. BIV color scheme rainbow colors, but you can choose any colors. you want.
For this project we need seven toilet-paper-tubes rolls, paints, paints, glue. A stronger glue, such as tear glue or hot glue, may work best for this job, but adult supervision is recommended when using a glue gun.

1. Paint toilet paper rolls in colors you want. It takes at least two coats. Let them dry.

Game Mosaic Kit
This nifty little game kit is just the right size for decorating cards and a few tissues to have, and makes the perfect gift for any cardboard box which holds a smiling cow brand of cheese wedges and is decorated with a coat of paint and a mosaic of tiny squares cut from magazine pages. We chose to paint ours blue and Earth Day inspired our painting project above.
For this project, you will need one trendy laughing cow, a box of cheese, paint, an old magazine, scissors, white glue, water and a brush.

1. Label the top, bottom and sides of the box carefully.
2. Paint outside the box color of your choice. He takes two coats. Dry.
3. Take the design at the top of the box, like a heart, earth, or smiling sun.
4. Cut small squares, a little larger than an inch, from the colorful pictures in the magazine.
5. Mix one part white glue and one part water in a container or lid. It doesn’t take much.

Ave Nest Supply Station
This project was easily suggested to Jennifer, owner of Altered Life and an artist at Cloth Paper Scissors magazine. It is made from a plastic container from the grocery store, a few feet of horticultural braids and miscellaneous items. from around your house Fill the container with strings, braids, dye, dry cloths, ribbons, or whatever little paper clips you have lying around. Give it to your favorite bird lover to hang on a tree and provide birds with lots of nesting grounds. Once broken, it can be refilled over and over again.

1. Run a 2 square foot gardening braid through the two corners of the berry container, pulling it up to the top.
2. The same in the corners.
3. Bend the ends of the nectar in an arc so that the container hangs evenly.
4. Fill the vessel loosely with paints, linens, strings, etc.
You can cut the holes in the side of the container a little larger so that the birds will have better access to the interior materials, but keep them small enough so that the supplies don’t just blow away.
