Belkin 10 Ft USB Extension Cable Review

Before I get into the Belkin 10 ft USB Extension Cable Review, I know a lot of people are probably saying, “Why should I be interested in a USB Extension cable?” Well, unless you have a need for it you may always wonder, until you have a spare, then it becomes a nice addition to any computer. The USB extension cable I am reviewing here is a 10 foot cable, and most people may not need a cable this long, but even a 3 foot extension cable can be of great value.

My original purpose for this cable was due to a bad wifi location, and my computer would not pick up our Internet access point, (IAP). By purchasing a 10 foot extension cable and a USB Wifi adapter, and I was able to place my antenna away from the computer and by the window where our Internet access point could be seen. The Belkin 10 ft USB Extension Cable gave me the freedom to find the best reception within 10 feet of my computer, and it does not appear to have any data loss over the 10 feet of cable. Now I no longer use it for my wifi connection, but I have found it to be of great value to me as the location of my computer tower is not easily accessed and when wanting to plug in a jump drive I have to feel my way through a cluster of wires. The USB extension cable has solved this issue as I know have it plugged into a USB port on the back of my computer, and the receptive end of the cable is right next to me so I can quickly and easily plug in any USB device without so much as even reaching.

USB extension cables can be touchy as the USB signal is not that strong to begin with, and in many cases if you extend beyond 3-6 feet, you start getting loss or corruption in the data signal. I have not encountered any problems using the Belkin 10 ft USB extension cable, and it has saved me nearly a daily headache of trying to plug things into the back of the case. I have front USB plug ins as well, but even they are hard for me to reach due to health issues, so adding this extension cable has been a life saver, and maybe you would benefit from such an extension as well. This 10 foot cable cost me $5.99 from Newegg, but if you are looking for a cable for this purpose, be sure you are getting one with a female plug on one end and the male plug on the other.

Specs for the Belkin 10 ft are, Model number F3U134-10, length: 10 ft, Type: USB, Color: Black. This Belkin USB extension Meets all USB specifications, Comes with a Belkin Lifetime Warranty, Complies with fully rated cable specifications reducing electromagnetic/radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI), Fast, 12Mbps transmission speed, Supports up to 127 devices on a daisy-chain configuration.
