Best 5 Lake Okeechobee, Florida, Campgrounds

Are you heading to Florida’s Lake Okeechobee for a little camping and fishing this summer? If so, you’ll want to read my picks for the five best campgrounds in the area. Each is close to the lake and offers great amenities. Here they are:

1. Okeechobee KOA

The Okeechobee KOA is located in Okeechobee. It is less than a mile from Lake Okeechobee and offers flat campsites that will accommodate RVs up to 60 feet long. It is one of my favorite campgrounds because of the amenities. Features include a hot tub, an outdoor pool, a tennis court, a 9-hole course, miniature golf and a fitness center. From my experience, the owners keep the park clean and the staff is friendly. Rates tend to start at $49 per night for drive thru and reservations are recommended.

2. Okee-Tantie Campground

Okee-Tantie Campground is located right on the lake in Okeechobee. It offers guests the best access to water. I find it convenient to occupy the food and shop onsite. There is also a fuel dock and a boat dock on the premises if you want to bring your boat. It opens daily and the rates vary.

3. Roland and Mary Ann Martin Marina and Resort

Roland and Mary Ann Martin’s Marina and Resort in Clewiston is another place I recommend. In my opinion, the site is well maintained, flat and affordable. A full hookup will typically cost $35 per night. As an avid golfer, what I love most is its proximity to Lake Okeechobee. It is located on the beach and you can rent a boat. I urge you, however, to be as careful as possible. The site tends to be fast!

4. Torry Island Campground and Marina

Torry Island Campground and Marina is located outside of Belle Glade. I found it to be a superlative site on terms of service. I was especially pleased to tackle the six-lane raft ramp, lake access and onsite food and shop. It is perfect for campers who want to enjoy fishing, boating and golfing. Prices vary and I don’t want to go in there without making a reservation.

5. Hook RV Resort

Curved Hook RV Resort in Clewiston is definitely worth considering. It is quiet and the places are nice and flat. I also love the onsite amenities. My favorite is the fish cleaning station with a heated pool and a cutesy barbecue area complete with a tiki hut. It always makes me want to drink a fruit bowl with a decorative umbrella sticking out of it. You may opt for a grass or concrete paved site. But I found both delightful. Please note that reservations and rates may vary from time to time.
