Fall is here, and that means it’s time to celebrate Halloween! What better way is there to have fun Halloween style, then to go to a haunted house? Long Island, NY has many fun and exciting haunted house events going on this year. Here are just a few for you to consider.
1. North Babylon Fire Company Famous Annual Haunted House: Firehouse of Terror

Voted number one on lihauntedhouse.com, according to their website, this haunted house boasts they are open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October, rain or shine. Recommended for those ages 12 and over, the Firehouse of Terror is an indoor walkthrough, which, as stated on lihauntedhouse.com, has two floors of scary sets, props, and effects, with live actors to add to the terror.

2. Haunted Tunnel at Woodside Nursery and Garden Center

One of the least expensive and most kid friendly haunted houses on Long Island, at Woodside Nursery and Garden Center, is five acres of Halloween themed fun. Outside is “Octobercation,” and indoors is the “Haunted Tunnel.” For just $2, you get admission to both of these, which include pumpkin picking every day, and, on weekends, face painting and roasted corn, among other fun Halloween related activities. Refreshments are offered, and there are activities for young children, including a balloon bounce.

3Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse of Horrors

Finally, for those who want a real scare, and are willing to pay a little more for it, there is the Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse of Horrors. Their website, www.hauntedplayhouseofhorrors.com, says “Gateway’s 100 year old estate provides the backdrop for a sinister journey through a nightmare maze of shocking and bizarre happenings destined to chill you to the bone.
With strobe lights, theatrical fog, sudden sound and visual effects, this is touted by many who have been there as one of the scariest haunted houses they have ever been to. For this reason, it is recommended only for those over 14 years old. Running through all of October, the hours are weekdays and Sundays 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. General Admission tickets can be purchased online for $18, with a discount for opening weekend, only $10 October 1st and 2nd. Fastpass tickets are also available, so you can choose a half hour time slot, for $23.
