Royal Oak is a small suburb north of Detroit, but it has a lot to offer in the way of trendy little shops that appeal to teenagers. Since I happen to have a savvy teen in my house, we hit up all the clothing stores downtown has to offer. You don’t have to travel out of the suburbs to find fashion. Here are the best teen outfits in the Royal Force.
Chrome, 117 W 4th Street, 248-399-1689 Chrome has been a downtown fixture for many years. As it is located west of Main Street, Chrome is the center of income and promise. Sure, the outfit is full casual, but it shines best with the festive outfit Chrome. The two guys who own the store are cheerful and go out of their way to provide service. My daughter bought all of her homecoming dresses here, and we go back every year because the quality selections are made and in their class. Be forewarned: their old formal is expensive, so hit yourself with a steel barrier.
American Apparel, 405 S Washington Avenue, 248-547-1904, www.americanapparel .net/
Around the corner near Chrome, South 4th Street is American Apparel. American Apparel, an LA based company, has many stores in the United, Canada and other countries. . The clothes are definitely casual, and my teenager loves the “West Coast” influence. The clothing line is usually presented with a clingy tee-shirt material that teen girls love. American Apparel prides itself on manufacturing a clothing line that is “sweat shop free.” Purchases can also be made from their website.
Incognito, 323 S Main Street, 248-548-2980 Located at the corner of South Main and 4th Streets, Incognito is a clothing definitely feel edgy. One part of the stores is dedicated to clothing for both men and women, and the other part is a tribute to some. the rarest shoes I have ever seen. The type of clothing here changes with the times, and it is difficult to describe exactly what kind of clothing can be found here. Sometimes it’s rough and ready like grunge gear, but you can also find Betsey Johnson here too.
Lost and Found Vintage, 510 St. Washington, 248-548-6154 Now in new digs just south of 4th Street, Lost and Found is a popular teen set. . True name, most clothes here is vintage a> , if you can recall from the 70s and 80s vintage. (Boy, that never makes me feel old!) Lost and Found also sells albums (it stands for VINYL) and clothing accessories. I don’t know where they find the stuff, but they sure have a lot.
Rise Clothing, 525 St. Washington, 248-548-8888 Located at Washington and 5th Street, it’s a great place for teen pants. There is also a collection of trendy clothes and accessories, definitely different from what is presented in the rest.
These are just a few of the clothing stores in the Royal Oak appellation pubescent. Other popular brands are Paris (for vintage and new clothing), Dolce Moda and Flair. The great thing about shopping in Royal Oak is that all the stores are within a three or four block radius of Main Street.
