Big Breast Discrimination: When Big Breasts Are Not Welcome at Work

In some professions, big breasts are welcome, and even encouraged. In other professions, namely office jobs, women with big breasts are more closely scrutinized, chastised, and singled out than other women,

How do I know this? Because I was brought into the Human Resources Department at my last office job because of my big breasts.

To be fair, the “official reason” was not because of my big breasts, it was because of my shirt.

I was told by the Human Resources woman that my shirt was “not appropriate for work.”

The HR woman did not even see me before she called me into her office. Someone else in the workplace decided to “report” me.

While there was not an official body policy against big breasts, there was a written dress code policy.

How I Did Not Violate Dress Code Policy

The shirt I wore did not in any way violate the official office or company dress code.

Sleeveless shirts were acceptable in the dress code policy. My shirt was sleeveless.

The shirt did not show any cleavage. in most offices is officially frowned upon, although privately coveted by many.

The shirt also did not violate the dress code policy about showing the midriff. The short I wore amply covered my big breasts and my midriff area.

The woman sitting directly across from me, however had a shirt that did not cover her midriff area, or her lower back and tattoos. The day before a woman had worn an off-the-shoulder shirt that did show cleavage.

Both of their shirts were just as form-fitting as mine. I just happen to have more form on the top to fit.

Form-fitting clothing was not a violation of the dress code policy. Women with big breasts know that really loose shirts can hang off the breasts in a way that can make you look larger than you are, or even pregnant. We spend a lot of time finding clothes that both fit and compliment our figures.

The difference between me and these other women at work? They did not have big breasts.

So what was really inappropriate that day was not my shirt. What was inappropriate is the size of my breasts.

Because this shirt on most others would not raise eyebrows even at work. Had the Human Resources person thought this through? Would she have taken anyone else into her office for a private reprimanding if they had worn the same shirt? I don’t think so.

What would have been the consequences for the company if one of the male staff members had chastised me for my shirt?

One of my other indicators of appropriate clothing for work is my guy. Trust me, he would not let me leave the house in anything that he felt was too revealing or inappropriate, without saying something first. He has a keen eye to see things that others do not.

I was only guilty of two things in the big breast-discrimination-disguised-as-dress-code-violiation situation.

1. I should I should have grabbed a sweater to cover up my big breasts. of course, wearing a sweater defeats the purpose of wearing a cool sleeveless shirt during a heat wave, even in an air condidtioned office.

2. My breasts are too bigfor some workplaces. That is not my fault. That is my reality. I have chosen to make money from my mind, not my body, also my choice.

Thankfully, I no longer work in that office, or any office. My office is my home, where my shirts and my big breasts are welcome without complaint.
