Black History Month Printables

Black History Month will soon be upon us in February. Many schools and homes will be reflecting on African American history throughout the month. This guide to introduce you to 5 online resources you can use for all of your Black History month themed printable activities. Whether you are looking for printable coloring pages for the younger kids, or word searches and writing assignments for the older kids, you are sure to find everything you are looking for and maybe even stumble across some other useful printable material to educate yourself and your students or children.

1. At www.dltk-kids.com you will be amazed at the amount of printable activities available centering around Black History Month. I came across this website about 4 years ago and have been using it ever since. This site is a one-stop-shop for all of your printable needs. All printables are free of charge and no registration is required to access or print. You can print as much as you want, anytime you want. For Black History Month printables simply type www.dltk-kids.com into your internet browser. Click on “Holiday Crafts” on the left hand side. Scroll down to about mid page and click on “February” in the upcoming events box. Black history month is the 1st topic. Click on “Black History Month” This will bring up a list of several different printable activities. My favorite is the “Martin Luther King Junior Toilet Paper roll craft.” This is for ages 3 and up. It includes the text to the “I Have a Dream” speech. Printing is easy. Just click on the item you wish to print. Then select either “color” or B&W;” for the template, when the template comes up you will see “Print” or “no add version”, I recommend the no add version. Simply click the format you want. You can also print the instructions for the craft. This site is very user friendly and requires no downloading of any kind to print.

2. The next website is Teacher Vision. The site can be accessed at www.teachervision.fen.com. This site offers a free 7 day trial or you can get the first 3 printable free then to continue accessing and printing you must register to become a member and pay a fee of $39.95 per year. This resource is geared toward teachers and home school educators. There is a wide variety of printable activities for Black History Month like reading comprehension activities with multiple choice questions, and writing assignments. I like this site because the printables are organized by grade level and category, making it easy to browse and select the printables you want.

3. At www.theteacherscorner.net you can access and print Black History Month printables for no charge. No registration or sign in is required to use these resources. Accessing printables couldn’t be easier. Simply click ” Printable Worksheets” from the menu on the right hand side of the page. then you can select “Printable Worksheets Home” at this point you can select from the available options like word search or word scramble. If you select “word search” for instance, the page that comes up has a “word search maker list” box. Select “Black History Month” scroll down to about mid page and there will be a box that you can create and customize you own word search either by using the pre-made lists or you can follow the simple instructions to create you own word lists. This site is a great resource for teachers and home schoolers, but anyone can benefit from the activities available on this site.

4. www.abcteach.com is an online resource for members only to access. You can become a member online by filling out the online membership form. The fees are $40 per use year or $70 for 2 years, this option is for individuals and groups of 2-9. The next tier is $35 per use year for groups of 10-29, for groups of 30 or more the fee is $25. Super site license pricing is available to groups of 100 users or more. For details contact the resource directly at [email protected]. This resource offers a wide selection of Black history month printables like writing paper, biographies, reading comprehension selections, and much more. This is definitely worth the fee if you are teacher, home school educator, or tutor.

5. At www.familyeducation.com you have several Black History Month printables to choose from. This site does require users to register to gain access to the printables, but there are no fees involved. To find Black History Month printables you can either type “Black History Month” in the search box located at the top of the page or select “Printables center” from the featured selections area on the left side of the page. On the Printable center page simply type “Black History Month” in the search printables by keyword box. Click the submit button. The next page has several different Black History Month themed printables like Black History Month quiz, Montgomery Bus boycott, and a variety of others.
