Blues Instruments of Note

Lately I’ve found myself completely obsessed with the sound of Blues, especially after a show in Sacramento, California, with one of my favorite artists, Paul Thorn. Now Paul has a very unique sound that I really enjoy but tonight I started to wonder what kind of instruments are used in this type of music.

I did some research and came up with the following;

Trumpet
Trombone
Sousaphone
Washboard
The Dobro (Steelbody Guitar) also known as the Resonator Guitar
Wooden Box (from Cajon)
Djembe (African)
I go Drum (African)
Kalimba (African)

Trumpet and trumpet are used in every sense in the Blues. What I found a little interesting and made me chuckle was the use of two spoons to create a number. It reminded me of the sounds of tropical music such as Jamaica, Hawaii, Cuba and Africa.

I learned about the sousaphone when I took a music class in junior high school but it was not known at the time. among the Venetians. The sousaphone was created in four-valve and three-valve models. It usually comes with four straight bell valves. Three valves were created to reduce weight and lower costs. Until the Depression they were made of silver plate and then silver was prohibited from being used so the makers used a clear lacquer to finish the flag. The silver finish is still available, but it costs extra and is very expensive.

The traditional washboard tool is still widely used. Also, a washboard for, you guessed it, laundry. It is used as a percussion instrument for blues and falls under the percussion category. I found a lot of information about how it was used and played. It is traditionally made in wooden panels, but it is also made in metal, galvanized steel, glass and brass. Cup is the one that caught my attention and I love to hear how that one sounds. Interestingly, the wooden frame plays by tossing and scraping using drums. Washboards are used in the bands of pitchers and beat up with brooms, so that they act as the back beat of the drum in most of the songs. From that point I snare the drum. When a four beat measure is used, the beat is divided into two beats and four beats. To produce the best sound, a sparring snare or a single steel broom is used. It’s an easy instrument to play and the mod used is 1+2+3+4+, using the fingers on the drums and the dominant hand pulling down. Tap your finger to the thimble user to + and follow by hitting the table for the number of subsequent accents.

Dobro was used when there were no amplifiers. The guitar is a resonator that is inverted in one shape. At the time it was created, it produced a larger sound and was more effective than the tritone from the same period. Also note that the guitar is resonable, that is acoustic, and the sound is produced by one or more protruding metal cones, which is a resonator, as opposed to using a wooden sound. The resonator comes in a square and round neck. Squares were designed for playing steel guitar while round ones were for playing in conventional classical and lap steel guitar style . It comes in three main designs: a tricone, a “biscuit” cone, and an inverted-cone. The Tricone has three metal cones for the guitar resonator, while one cone is used for other national instruments and one inverted cone is used for the Dobro. Now I also love Naevia and I was very pleased to discover the guitar resonator introduced for it. I’m familiar with Flatt and Scruggs and, apparently, Josh Graves brought it into the mix in the mid-1950s using a hard-driven, syncopated three-finger picking style that Count Scruggs developed for the five-string banjo. In modern play, this method is still used except for Tut Taylor, who uses a flat pick.

Wooden drums are also used in my culture, Cuban music. A wooden box was basically a drum in use and used to play the first Rumba Yambu and a wooden panel forming a reflective “skin”. It became quite big for me to sit while playing and to determine the sound from wherever you hit the box and the tone you want to create. The wooden chest was developed in the early 1800’s and is Afro-Peruvian. In modern styles, an additional line is added using several screws to accommodate the drum. Likewise, the strings of a guitar, a snare drum or a rattle can be well added and it gives a buzzing effect to the sound produced. Some styles offer a bass pedal, which gives a different sound. There is also now an added style between a wooden box and a conga that is considered a hybrid. Again, what a pleasant surprise. Congas are widely used in many Spanish and Latin cultures, especially Cuba. The sound quality is very different in these. A wooden box drum is usually considered for rumba, flamenco, traditional African and modern rock. Finding this to be used in the Blue category makes a lot of sense.

In my research I did not understand at first why the African Djembe was used in blues and it was discovered that it was a film covered hand drum shaped like He used a cup and played with his bare hands. The domestic instrument is membranous and the framework is either a shell membrane or a drum usually covered with raw material. The reason they are used in the blues is to create a variety of tones due to its cup shape and the density of the wood. Due to the round shape with the extended tube it gives it a high bass note used inside the Blues. The primary notes played are usually bass, tone and slap, but advanced players of this instrument can achieve a variety of other tones. The bass comes out low and deep, while the sound is rounder and fuller, and still creates a sharp slap sound. In fact, the maximum effect you want is the minimum effort and the key to this is through the energy of the hand and its position in the right place by placing it or dispersing it. You want to strike an instrument in your art. If it is done on the skin with palms and fingers, make it to the center drum to create and produce bass note Otherwise, hitting the skin near the edge will create and produce tone and hit the fleshy part of the palm. as it is above the margin.

Bring me the drum is also used by hand and is produced in ceramic, wood, fiberglass tri-sound, and is used as a percussion instrument. He has a long neck and is originally from Nigeria. Meinl is the company that makes this tool in recent times. Ceramic body increases the frequency higher and reigns with fat strong sound. The fiberglass chamber is sealed and contains water which in turn adds overtone waves offering a wide variety of tones depending on your technique. The wood ibo drum provides a wide sonic tone in a dry sound and has a mic hole. Remember to keep the volume of the instrument low when playing by yourself.

The kalimba is a small percussion instrument that has been modernized from the African mbira, also known as the African thumb piano. Made of metal keys, it is a sound box used in South Africa. It has a hollow capsule containing a resonator or sounding board and is modulated by plucking the reeds or tines with the thumbs or fingers. It is also a member of the lamellophone music. It was originally called Treble and had a higher but low pitch of 15-notes giving it the name Alto. created similar styles, but different notes are added and it is not surprising that it is done in G note was used to amplify the resonator, ultimately, changing and changing the sound quality of the product.

More than likely, there are several instruments that are used in Bluegrass and Bluegrass. These are the ones I found to be widely used in my research.
