I am personally truly grateful to Kevin Macdonald for giving the world this fantastic documentary on a man whose music and philosophies have resonated around the world with every race, culture and creed. This documentary gives us the ability to be a fly on the wall in the life of Bob Marley and see a side of him that only those who knew him best had the privilege of seeing.

For nearly half a century Bob Marley has had such an influence on all kinds of different populations as a musician, revolutionary and legend. His influence has reached global levels and has continued to remain unparalleled ever since his passing in 1981. This is true testament to his to not only his music but as a spiritual and political leader. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Marley family and the Oscar winning film maker Kevin Macdonald we are now given a chance to unravel the many mysteries that surround Bob Marley. Kevin Macdonald definitely had a clear vision for this film.

The thing at the back of my mind, the question I wanted to answer in making the film was: Why does he still speak to people around the world (because it’s clear that he does) and why does he speak to people so much more profoundly than any other rock artist or popular music artist…What I was fascinated to try to do in this film was to make something very personal. Who is this man? Why did he become so successful? What was the message that he had to give out to the people?” This documentary will answer all these questions and more.

Here we are 30 years later from when his music was at the height of it popularity and I still to this day I do my best to live by his message of “One Love, One Heart. Now we have the opportunity to rediscover his legacy and hopefully work to apply it to today’s world. If you thought you knew Bob Marley and what he was about and what he stood for I implore you to check out this Documentary. It will defiantly broaden your view on the legend that is Bob Marley. This is one that I will be adding to my library.
