Book Review: Go Ask Alice, by Anonymous

What intrigued me about the book Go Ask Alice, written by Anonymous. Authors are usually proud to print their name in bold print on book covers, so that seeing that this book was written by someone who prefers to be anonymous, the eye is immediately caught. I figured all the secrets noted throughout this book, like true experiences with each and every word, and therefore remaining anonymous was necessary.

In a sense, this is both true and false. The author of this book didn’t really know whether their name was added or not, because Go Ask Alice is a teenager’s memoir that was put into print, after he died. >

Now you know right away that the author of this book is dead because the back cover of the book contains a short inside that tells you that her drug use eventually leads to her death.

All names, locations and other details have been changed to protect the identity of the authors and what they mention in their blog.

Go Ask Alice starts out like a typical teen diary. A young girl friend is desperate, lonely, bored, and has extreme mood swings with almost every other place. . Even the weight of the life and the weight of the weight are sad. Looking at any teenager’s diary, this type of change is completely normal.

When uprooted the house and moved to another place, it did not fit right away. in, but makes friends with the girl who lives next to her. They form a perfect friendship and are usually inseparable.

When summer comes around, his friend is forced to go to summer camp, left by our anonymous author. .

With his friend leaving, he decided to spend the summer at home with his birds. On her way home, she falls into the wrong crowd and is invited to a party where she gets LSD. to drink. This is basically her introduction to the witch scene.

He enjoyed the LSD trip and began taking more and more different drugs to see what kind of high he could get from them.

The record then spirals down into a tunnel of drugs, sexual abuse, and a descent into more and more drugs. He runs away several times, only to return home, where he constantly tells himself that he is addicted to drugs.

At the very end of the book, you wonder how she’s going to die, because she really seems to be sticking to her word. With each entry he goes on about how he never touched the drugs, how he never wants to touch them again, and how he stays clean.

Then the book unfolds with one huge shock. Just when you think you’re doing well, a quick short paragraph about how the author was found dead after 2 weeks is added.

You knew his unexpected ending was coming, but you didn’t expect it to happen the way it did.

Overall Go Ask Alice is a really fantastic book/diary, with a huge unexpected ending. I recommend his parenting book and adolescents alike. The show is based on the life of a real girl who came to a real tragic end due to drugs.
