Stephanie Plum is one of my favorite characters; He often lacks wit and has a tendency to get into odd situations and even odd people, but he’s outgoing and gets the job done. His job? That bond is in Trenton, New Jersey. She works for Vinnie’s cousin who gave her a job after she lost her former job as a lingerie buyer. He has no previous experience, but he is gutsy and is slowly experimenting and doing quite a bit better.
Acta Apostolicae Sedis Evanovich has two series by Stephanie Plum. There is one regular series that has a number in the title; by the way, there are 14 Stephanie Plum books as of today. The second series is “Between the number”. As much as I love the regular Stephanie Plum books, I always look forward to these “Between the Number” books, because in addition to the regular Stephanie wackiness, there’s an added element: the paranormal.
So far, all of Stephanie Plum’s “Between the Numbers” stories have featured Diesel and his search for disturbing comments. I just don’t know what to explain first, the diesel or the comments. I’ll go with a comment to make it easier to explain.
There are priceless people who have a little something extra special about them. Not all psychics are priceless in that you think, they don’t have powers like the ability to give hives or in Diesel’s case priceless like bloodthirsty.
Diesel is a big guy who cooks like a homeless person who has been quiet for a while, but feels like “sex and fresh cookies and a hint of Christmas.” This combination sounds odd, but it works on diesel. Basically, he and Stephanie have the same job, track down people who jump bail and track down people who take advantage of their extra special abilities.
Stephanie Avia Mazur, his mother’s mother, is extraordinary in people’s lives. In “Lucky Feather”, Grandma Mazur finds a bag of money at the end of a rainbow and decides to keep it, because everyone knows that when you find your stash of cash at the end of her rainbow. Zigmond Kulakowslo, an unspeakable man who claims to be a leprechaun, also claims to be his money and wants it. So now that you know how Diesel fits into the story, let me tell you about some other things in Stephanie’s life.
Joe Morelli, a deputy cop, is Stephanie’s boyfriend, at least most of the time. In this novel, the undercover assignment does not differ, so we don’t see much. Ranger, a real ass, is Stephanie….you know I don’t know exactly what Stephanie is. I know Ranger has a bug planted in her so he can monitor her every move. In the beginning, Stephanie didn’t care about it, but she finds herself in a couple of very odd and dangerous situations where she needs help to get out of it, gradually recognizing that someone knows where she is and is looking for her. for her
When Ranger is out of town, Tank, his officer, is in charge of watching over Stephanie. Lake is a huge six and a half feet tall and is Lula’s lover. Now Lula is that prostitute who is now working for Vinnie Plum. Cousin Stephanie, as a file clerk. Lula often goes with Stephanie when she is looking for someone. Now let’s see who’s out… Oh, Connie is working as Vinnie’s manager and Stephanie’s going on some more interesting adventures.
Okay, now that I’ve done some background work I can tell you this is one of Janet Evanovich’s more interesting books. Yes, Grandma Mazur has a bag of cash and is chased by a briefly harassed person in green pants who thinks he is a leprechaun. He goes to Atlantic City; Where else would an old New Jersey woman go with that money?
You have a book to read to find out if Stephanie finds her grandmother before Zigmond comes to her; whether Diesel apprehends and corrects Zigmond; and who are those guys chasing Zigmond and why?
This was a great book to read, just ready to laugh a lot.
