Health
The Turkey Medallions frozen dinner from Boston Market contains 360 calories. There is a significant amount of fat, sodium and cholesterol. I was surprised to learn that this Boston Market frozen dinner had a lot of protein in it. It seems to be a seesaw of both helpful and not-so-ideal nutrition facts. This frozen dinner has a lot of Vitamin A and some calcium, iron and Vitamin C. That may be enough to ignore the high sodium level, but that is a choice that should be made on an individual basis. The diet and health of a college freshman could be much different than that of a parent with three children and a history of health concerns.
Quality
This is the category where Boston Market Frozen Dinners beat out the competition ten to none. Although the Turkey Medallions frozen meal comes in a large box, this could have easily been deceiving. Luckily, the size of the box was just a mere cover for the large tray that lies inside. This frozen meal comes with pieces of white meat turkey breast, mashed potatoes with gravy and a vegetable mixture. The veggie combination includes carrots and green beans.
There is a large portion of both the main course and those two side items. The Boston Market Turkey Medallions frozen dinner is filling and will not make you want an extra snack afterward. The size puts many other frozen “meals” to shame, as it appears to be more of an adult-sized meal rather than something we force ourselves to eat while trying to lose weight. I was glad to have been able to eat one meal without having to grab something else later on in the evening. Those little “snacks” that we eat between meals can actually add to unnecessary and unwanted weight gain.
Price
Boston Market should place a sticker that says “Premium” on their frozen dinner boxes. These meals are no where near inexpensive. I paid nearly $5 for one Boston Market Turkey Medallions frozen dinner and wished that it was on sale. The prices of these meals can be anywhere from $4.29 to $4.99 depending on where you live and shop for groceries. Although I have not purchased Boston Market Turkey Medallions frozen dinners on a frequent basis, I do check often to see if they are on sale. It seemed that these particular frozen meals were never on sale at grocery stores. That was until I did some browsing online and found a woman who bought a Boston Market Turkey Medallions frozen dinner for $2. This could be proof that these frozen meals can actually be found for less that $4.29 each.
Taste Test
While it would be a stretch to recreate a homemade Thanksgiving dinner using any frozen meal, the Turkey Medallions Boston Market Frozen Dinner comes very close to doing so. The gravy and mashed potatoes do not taste like an imitation product and the gravy has a nice density to it. The carrots and green beans are seasoned with herbs and compliment the flavorsome pieces of turkey breast included in this meal. The Boston Market Frozen Dinner tastes more like a home cooked meal, which gives it an advantage over many other frozen dinners. This did not taste like the typical frozen meal that I took out of a freezer and heated in the microwave. In fact, I am tempted to try and see if I can get away with pulling this off as something that I cooked myself when having company over one day.
Verdict
It would be great if the majority of large supermarket chains sold Boston Market Frozen Dinners. These meals are not always easy to find and even more difficult if you are looking for a wider variety. I have found only a portion of the options that Boston Market Frozen Dinners seem to offer. Still, Turkey Medallions Boston Market Frozen Dinners are worth trying. They appear to be more suitable for dinner rather than lunch.
There are many frozen meals out on the market. Many of them offer good tasting food at an affordable price, but have smaller portions. Even if dieting and weight loss is not an issue, adults should not have to settle for less food just because they want something quick. I had both the quick meal preparation and the satisfaction when trying the Turkey Medallions Boston Market Frozen Dinner and would purchase this food product again.
