So Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) are best friends in the whole wide world until one of them has to give up their dream wedding because they both got booked on the same day at The Plaza. Bride Wars.

Great actresses: Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway, Cadice Bergen, Kristen Johnston.

Decent actors: Steve Howey, Chris Pratt and Bryan Greenberg.

But add them all together with a not so mainstream director (Gary Winick who directed Charlotte’s Web 2 years ago) and a script by Casey Wilson, June Raphael and Greg de Paul who don’t have a blockbuster movie between them and you get a straight to DVD disaster.

The trailer ruins the film because it shows practically everything and even some scenes they must have cut. Yahoo Movies shows stills from the climax. I mean this movie is just ruined from within, outside and since it’s creation in someone’s head.

It is such a hack job. Yes there are rehashes of movies here and there but the good ones are the ones that are written well. I don’t know where they get these writers but they sure the hell must not like to write. What is this a quick way to get a buck in Hollywood? Yes.

Bride Wars has some mere moments where there was humor. Or I could be mistaken and totally just rewrote the movie in my memory so that I didn’t just waste my time and money on this. If it were just Kate Hudson I would have never seen this movie. But there was Anne Hathaway and she made me think it might be possible to like a Kate Hudson movie.

Oops. Guess I was wrong. Kate Hudson is like the mark of death for a film. Is she in a movie that has every cracked the $100 Million dollar mark? Was she in a movie that even stayed at the theater a while? I can’t think of any and looking at her list of accomplishments on IMDB I see not a one I could remark as being great because of her existence in the film. It’s just disappointing.

Even if Bride Wars went straight to DVD it would not be worth renting. It’s horrible. The only reason it’s not an F is because I laughed, a bit, at the same parts I laughed at when I saw the trailer.

Every single moment that they could have made a big laugh or did something that was just hilarious was, instead, done in the most uncomfortable, blatantly boring way possible. It’s not even good for a chick flick. If you alter your thinking to what would be tolerable should your girlfriend drag you to the movies to see it, Bride Wars wouldn’t be able to come close enough to that if someone paid for you and got you popcorn and a drink.

Oh and let me tell you about this ending. That ending dealt with a second storyline that was weakly done. It was like a climatic BOOM and then it was like there was suppose to be a second BOOM and all we got was a tiny fart. I’m so mad. I want the Fox to give me a free ticket to see the new Wolverine movie. I hate them, right now. HATE! I need something to clean off my plate and make me like movies again. I can’t dare be bothered to see another Kate Hudson movie.
