I am a hunter by nature. I’m not sure where I got it from, when it started, or what happened to me when I found the deal, but it’s simply a shop. I get a sudden rush of adrenaline when I find a 50% off rack, hear about a clearance sale or stumble across end of season brands. Now that I’m a mom, my latest obsession is doing great deals on children’s clothing. But in a previous life as a young, secure, late-busy woman in her early twenties, she decided to apply this bargain-shopping concept to what most people don’t think about – the wedding day.
There with us they are blessed with $20,000+ budget solely dedicated to their wedding day to do everything they have ever dreamed of. If ice sculptures, seaside wedding venues and elaborate receptions are your thing, more power to you! However, I tend to be more of a casual, laid-back type of person, and so I knew that breaking the budget wasn’t necessary. The perfect wedding I knew I could still have it and not spend a fortune on a dress I would only wear it once, wedding favors that most people find use they cannot, or the cake which many do not eat. My wedding day was everything I wanted and more, and the price was much less than most of the dream weddings you hear about now.
A few months later, I started busy working on shopping for a dress. I had a specific type of dress in mind, so I ventured on the internet to see if there were any local dress shops< /a> that had what I was looking for . That’s when I came across a beautiful dress – Ebay. It was perfect, exactly what I had in mind, and the price was an unbelievable $100. As it turned out, she owned a bridal shop in Rhode Island, selling last season’s dresses on Ebay, and the dress originally cost $600. I couldn’t believe what a steal it was.
I’ve done my fair share of ebaying before, both buying and selling, so I’m familiar with the site. As they say, “Whatever it is, you can find it on Ebay.” But a wedding dress? Was this really something I wanted to buy over the internet? About Ebay anyway? It seemed a bit extreme, but while I was weighing the pros and cons of the matter, I could hear the bargain hunter. /a> yelling at me, “How can you pass up this deal?!
I was immediately on the phone trying to convince my mother that I needed to buy this dress. I texted him the link and he said it was a beautiful dress. At first we were very worried about the attitude. Although the description was shown to be in perfect condition, there is no way to know for sure if it was clean, if it was salvaged, or if it was just the right size. After emailing back and forth with the seller several times, I decided to take the plunge and buy the dress hoping for the best outcome. My mother, of course, made me promise not to tell anyone we had left. At first it was mortified that I shop online like these, but I believe in the end I was grateful, I fell in love when my parents gave the proposal!
When he finally arrived, the attitude was in excellent condition. No stains, no rips, no signs of ever being worn. After some minor alterations that only cost $80, the dress was ready. All for less than $200!
This bargain hunter has officially paid off for me. I knew if I could purchase a wedding dress on Ebay, there was no way I could find plenty of other wedding related items. sale on their site. Since Ebay is often a place where you can buy items at great prices, you can buy wedding favors right away. brought to mind I bought very small gift boxes for each place setting, along with burgundy bows (burgundy was the wedding color) and inside each box a flower He placed a bulb for our guests to plant in honor of our wedding. I made 130 likes costing a total of $80, a mere $1.63 each!
I found a veil that matched my dress almost perfectly for $20. And because we were going to prepare our four guests using bird decorations to put wedding cards, I asked. one from Ebay…only $10. This particular bird went on to attend several other weddings as well, everyone loved it and many asked to borrow it. I could also buy a clay cake and the most elegant marble topper for wedding cake only $15; again on Ebay.
I went on to find a beautiful Lenox wedding album for our wedding photos and two outfits and bags for our wedding in Hawaii! A fitting end to my Ebay wedding experience.
While the final price tag on the wedding day was just over $10,000, there are simply some things (such as the reception hall, the photographer and that you can’t buy online. I’m sure it reduced my expenses, which were normally done while planning a wedding, by probably several thousand dollars. So when someone thinks it’s cheap, or downright cheap, it was and always will be the day of my wedding.
