Calling All Nursing Majors-Summer Study Abroad

Spending the summer in Cyprus for senior nurses is a great way to enjoy the summer and earn college credit!

The global studies program offers a semester-long course especially for nursing majors. The Health Science program gives pre-medical students, nurses or other allied health students valuable experience in health care.

The summer program in Cyprus includes learning the difference in health care between the United States and Europe. Students also receive school work visits to 5-7 public and private hospitals and clinics in Cyprus.

Nursing students attend a practicum at a local private hospital. Non-nursing students who are majoring in healthcare will attend a course on European cultures.

Cyprus healthcare is well developed and the region is suitable for students to gain healthcare experience. This program is limited to twelve student nurses.

The uniqueness of the summer in Cyprus is the medical majors program, which includes an introduction to health management and various site visits to many local public hospitals and private clinics.

Students also gain clinical experience at a local clinic. Students also have the opportunity to earn six credits toward their degree through fully accredited courses. Classes will be taught in English. Students who participate in the summer program in Cyprus will attend two courses that will give them the opportunity to understand how health systems operate in a socio-political context.

The required course in the medical program is Care Management which is for 3 credit hours. Provision of Elective Courses on Nursing Care (for majors only) and European cultures (for students who are in a medically related field) .

Each of the courses are intercollegiate and are taught by intercollegiate faculty using the intercollegiate syllabus. The program also includes 7 days of travel in Cyprus.

Inter College is a well-known international institution and is now the largest and most prestigious college in Cyprus. About 5,000 students are enrolled on three separate campuses. It is intercollegiately accredited at the associate, bachelor’s and master’s levels. Their main strengths are business, international relations, engineering, computer science and some of the social sciences.

The main campus is in the city of Nicosia. This campus serves approximately 4,000 students. All the school buildings on this campus were built within the last decade and combine American capabilities in design, comfort and technology.

The campus in Nicosia includes a library, computer labs, gym, film studio, multimedia and television facilities, cafeteria, design labs, engineering labs, TV and radio production labs, and is in a beautiful setting.

Admission requirements for the Cyprus Summer Medical Science Program include current good standing in an academic institution in the United States. City. Students are also expected to be in sophomore standing and must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Students must also have completed at least one academic year in a home institution.

Additional requirements for the program include vaccinations for polio, tetanus, mumps and mumps. They must also have Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C vaccines. Students must also have a negative HIV status test after the date of posting. March 1, 2007.

Students who participate in the Summer Science program will also be enrolled in Medical Insurance policies.

Other requirements include interest in the program theme, overall academic performance, rationale for participating, and quality of academic recommendations. Students also demonstrated maturity to be eligible for the program.

The travel experience in Cyprus will also give students a unique international and cultural experience that will set them apart when it comes to job hunting and resume building .

Student housing summer in Cyprus include the same six apartments or houses. Housing will be in residential areas around the Intercollegiate Campus or near the Nicosia shopping district in the city center.

The accommodation units are equipped with kitchens, stories and basic amenities. The units also have WiFi. Students usually share a room with one roommate, unless they request otherwise and are willing to pay for additional space.
