Campbell University, located in Buies Creek, North Carolina, is nestled in the cotton fields of Central Carolina, about 45 minutes outside of Raleigh, North Carolina. In 1976, the law school admitted 97 students to make up their class. Since then, Campbell has built on excellence and tradition over the past three decades. Today, the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law continues to provide a solid legal education, graduating approximately 100 students per year.

For it is a dry town where there is no place to buy alcohol to spare a lot of time for your studies.
The most recent statistics released by the school show that 1,194 students applied and 147 were offered admission. The school noted that this is about 18% higher than normal, since the incoming class typically admits about 120 each year. The median LSAT score was 156 and the median GPA was 3.35. Campbell, like most canonical law schools, places great weight on the LSAT score and GPA; However, Campbell also conducts interviews of applicants and gives weight to this process in choosing between candidates.
Campbell also offers a unique program for recruits not outright admitted. While a large portion of the incoming class will be offered direct admission, some applicants, sometimes more than 100 students, will be extended an invitation to participate in the Performance Based Admission Program, or PBAP. Students who receive this invitation attend approximately 7 weeks of summer classes where they receive instruction in two law school degree classes. According to the rules of the American Bar Association, credit for the law school cannot be given to these classes, but to students who successfully complete the classes, a certain number of defined classes are extended invitations to become members of the incoming class. PBAP is provided each summer prior to the beginning of the fall season for the incoming class. Of the students who completed the PBAP program and became members of the incoming class, the median LSAT score was 152 and the median GPA was 3.16. While tuition is charged for the PBAP program and not all students who attend PBAP are extended invitations to the incoming class, it provides an opportunity for students on the receiving end to show that they can perform for law students.
As in all law schools across the country, Campbell’s first-year curriculum is rigid, predetermined, and has no electives. Basic classes, Property, Contracts, Torts, and Civil Procedure will be taught. Management and society are also taught along with written law, trial advocacy and jurisprudence. Overall, this makes for a busy and stressful first year. If you are considering law school, you may or may not know that law school is taught using the Socratic method and that there are no midterms or exams. One exam determines a student’s grade. After the first year in many other schools, classes are suggested, but few school courses are required. However, at Campbell, even after the first year, classes are required.
